Great app! I tried the lite version and immediately got the registered version. Very nice. A couple of improvements could be made...

I had to enter my list over again in the paid app after the free app. If there was some sort of sync this would be taken care of. I doubt the app will sync between my iPod Touch and my iPad. Of course I'd like to see some sort of sync with my Mac even if I had to buy a shareware App on the Mac to view and edit my lists there.

I absolutely love this app! I like its simplicity - I've been using this to replace the Notes app that came with my iPod. It hasn't crashed once in the three or so months that I've been using it, which is definitely saying something. The cute little icons to label all the folders I adore, and I love that I have the ability to duplicate lists and email them. The search ability is also pretty cool.

My only suggestions would be to add on landscape view (which I know you said you're working on), multi-line todos & subfolders (which you also said you were working on), and the ability to mix todos and notes, if possible. Also, an autosave feature would be very helpful. :)

Thank you so much for such an awesome app! And at such a low price, too! It's definitely one I'll be coming back to again and again. :)

Great app! I purchased it after trying out the Lite version and I've found it has a lot of uses (especially when my wife sends me to the grocery store).
I actually really like the green colour (it's bright and cheerful) so hopefully when you add colour themes the green one will still be there!

Thanks Stampyhead! The green will definitely be staying and remain the default color.

fantastic app. Just tried the lite version and I am thinking of buying it as soon as I can get some iTunes credit. Was using the checklist app and the simplicity with paperless is better especially to use offline.

Thanks Dubnde, check your PM's. :) (last promo code I'm giving out for a while)

Thanks r0k. Yes, it is a problem that you can't transfer lists from the lite version to the full version. That's something that will be addressed once the backup/restore feature is in place... my apologies for not having that available sooner.

Also, I would love to eventually make an iPad version, a Mac version, and a web based version, and have them all sync up - but it's not going to happen anytime soon since Paperless is still something I'm limited to working on in my spare time.

Thanks for the kind words pink.gumdrops! I'm glad you find it useful.

Landscape orientation will be part of the next update... :)

First, I'd like to announce that I've quit my day job to focus on iOS development full time. It was becoming too much to manage working on this and a full time job (plus spend time with my family). I've fallen in love with iOS development, so it won over staying at the full time job.

It's a bit of a risk, as I'm no longer going to have a nice steady paycheck, but it was time to move on. Thank you to those on this forum who have supported me. I really appreciate it. :)

Paperless version 1.2 is now available in the app store. New features include:

  • support for landscape orientation
  • 5 themes to choose from
  • a revamped item details screen which allows for item names as long as you want
  • a "read only" mode on the item details screen that will detect links for web addresses, email addresses and phone numbers that you put in item names or notes
  • a "compact view" setting for the main screen, to let you see more lists at once
  • a choice to use smaller icons (perfect for the compact view, but can also be used with the normal view)
  • and more

NOTE: the free version "Paperless Lite" is still at version 1.1.4... waiting for review by Apple

Looks nice. What is the difference between lite and non-lite? (What features aren't included in the lite?)

Once Apple approves version 1.2 of the lite version, they will be exactly the same except for a limitation of 15 total list items. But for now, since it's stuck at version 1.1.4, it's also missing landscape orientation, themes and a lot more. (they were submitted around the same time, so I'm hoping it gets reviewed and approved soon)

The lite version is there so you can try it out and see if you like it... if you do, then you can buy the full version which doesn't have any limit on the number of lists/items that you can create.

Nice update. I love the app, been using it since it first came out. In fact, I just looked for my review on iTunes, I was the first person to review Paperless. And im still using it daily. Keep up the good work, and best of wishes going full time iOS developer.

Ok. I don't have an iPod Touch (yet), but I will try the Lite version, and then maybe the Full! Thanks!

Oh, and good luck! :)

The free "Lite" version of Paperless is now available in the app store - which brings it up to date with the full version by adding support for landscape orientation, themes, and many other new features.

If you've never tried Paperless, it's a simple but highly versatile app for creating lists of anything and helping you organize your life. You can use it to make checklists for groceries, to do lists, bucket lists - or for things like keeping notes for a class, writing a story outline, making a list of potential baby names - or anything else you can think of.

I think this new version brings Paperless from being a really good app, to a great app... and your purchase and support will help me continue development and add big features such as syncing between devices and eventually an iPad version.

Thank you!

Here's a montage showing some of the different screens, and the 5 themes included (click it to open the full size version in a new window):

So far it's an excellent app. I will be giving the LITE version a thorough run before leaving an educated review, but so far it's going well. I like the concept of not having specific time frames.

Ever consider reminders or alarms?

A reminder/alarm feature is something I'd like to include... just haven't had a chance to completely think that through yet.

As far as not having specific time frames goes, I wrote a blog post a few days ago that talks about just that:

Yeah having alarms will be excellent. Just a reminder that you need to get something done.
I like not having specific time frames though. I hate things "pending" for long periods of time, but you can't always get everything done on time.

So far the app is good.

Will continue to test it.

To celebrate the release of the new version of Paperless, it's on sale for just $0.99 from now until the end of the weekend.

Get the app that Macworld says "deserves a spot on your iPhone"!

Grab it while it's cheap and tell your friends. :D

The response to this has been great so far. Good to have Paperless back in the top 50 for Productivity in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia and Sweden. Of course, I'd love to get it back into the top 25 or better. ;)

Thanks to anyone who has purchased Paperless, I hope you find it useful.

I think I'll end getting it tomorrow.

Just one question: how are your plans on making a Mac application?

Right now I have Things, which is very good. But as you said, sometimes I spend more time organizing my task than what I should. One thing I like the most about Things is the seamless integration within the iPhone/iPad/Mac applications.

If you ever go to make a Mac application, leave it simple and elegant like the iPhone app.:)

I would absolutely love to make a Mac version (and iPad version) eventually... but need to get a system for syncing in place first, which will take some time.

... and yes, I plan on keeping it simple. :)

Picked up this app today.

Thanks atari1356 for all the work that you've put into it. Probably the cleanest to do/notes kind of app that I've tried out. Even at full price (and with the app store not reflecting recent currency changes with australia:us) very good value too.

At 1.19 AUD (though currency exchange rate kinda implies it should be $1.00...) this is a steal and I've already bought it.

Thank you.

I really like this app!

Also:

I just absolutely -adore- your new brand new day theme! This is truly truly a gorgeous app that I am going to get a lot of use out of!

Thank you for the sale. I really do wish you well and success in this venture. If I had an iPad I'd consider buying a HD/iPad version. That or make this a universal app (in due time of course). But as an iPhone app, I can't say I have much to criticise. Save for maybe sub-lists, but I understand that that may not be in alignment with keeping it simple. And boy the simplicity is just...wow.

I think the best type of app is one that does something very simple, but executes it really well. This app falls exactly in that category.

To anyone reading this thread -- if you need a to do app, or a shopping list type app, or any thing which requires you to "check stuff off" there isn't anything else on the App-Store which does it as well as Paperless.

Great app, yes simple yet powerful!

I just bought the app, the lite version convinced me quickly.:)

Just one suggestion/request: if there existed an easy way to make a list that had ALL the To-Dos in the other lists, that would be awesome.

Right now you can move your To-Dos from one list to another rather easily. So I can accomplish making a Today list and just move the things I want to make today to this list. But it is time consuming.

So, having a quick access to ALL your To-Dos would be great. Not sure what you think about this?

I'll have to give that some thought. I can see how it would be useful, but it would probably require some user interface changes to the main screen.

Looks like a cool app!!

Thanks :)

Paperless is doing okay in the app store rankings right now:

#16 for Productivity in Canada
#30 for Productivity in the U.S.
#45 for Productivity in the U.K.

So, for now I've decided to keep the sale price of $0.99 (U.S.) going to try and keep it there. Thanks again to anyone who has purchased it.

Another convert from Lite to paid. Picked up the Lite version and was suitably impressed so bought the full version in the sale.

Would be nice to date stamp completed tasks, so when emailing the list it provides a sort of audit trail.
