v 1.33 is out

Version 1.33 is out. It fixes connection hangs on downloads and streaming.

1.33 corrected the issue I had with downloading files, etc.

I have no problem with the constant updates. It takes 30 seconds to update and each time it keeps getting better.

For sure. No complaints here... just amazed and stoked

Have a problem, need some advice:

I have PDAnet on my phone, it works great. Awesome app.

However, when I unplug it and try to connect back to my home wireless router (or any wi-fi) it gives me errors and says it cannot connect. I go back into settings and make sure it isn't ad-hoc anymore and it still will not connect. Do I have to set up a totally separate connection for an ad-hoc so the regular default wi-fi router connection doesn't get screwed up? And how do I do this?

For the life of me I cannot figure this out.

AT&T doesn't know jack about iPhone tethering limits...

The thing is that there are so many customer that they dont check every person internet usage. The only start looking into your activity once go past the 5GB soft cap that ATT use. As long as you stay below 5GB a month you wont raise any red flags.

Where did you get this 5GB soft cap info? I run a legitimate iPhone app called Pandora and hit the 5GB mark in a double of days easy.

I did a quick calculation assuming 128kbit compression, an mp3 is about 4MB, and a song is around 4minutes long. I came up with 1.8GB per day if you left the Pandora iPhone app streaming all 24 hours. So after three days, you've already hit this cap.

I'd say that after at least two weeks, MANY people hit this cap on their iphones (only AT&T would know this). In addition there are TONS of multiplayer games, YouTube, bandwidth hogging sites, on the iPhone that can destroy this 5GB cap

I call BS and FUD on that. .. respectfully :D

Unfortunately, it is NOT BS:

Haha! This is amazing! No more messing about with stupid proxies etc!

(I'm writing this using my iPhone's internet..)

I can actually browse USING FIREFOX, I can use uTorrent, MSN, Google Desktop and pretty much all applications! It's just like it's connected to a normal Wifi.. and it actually gives instructions too on the iPhone screen! :

EDIT: It's funny that I'm downloading a Mac OS X ISO to my laptop using uTorrent using my iPhone Unlimited Data! :p

I'd be careful with utorrent if i were you. if you are constantly going over 5GBs, AT&T will get suspicious. just use the tether for regular browsing.

i was curious if i were to download vista (which i have a liscense for) via torrent because i left my disk at home and am at college and am getting a new laptop in the mail tommorow. If i do this one time just because i cant obviously use my schools internet will att charge me?

Borrow the disk off someone else on campus. It must be available somewhere. Try the student office. Maybe the IT department will have a copy?

A word for Canadians using PdaNet

I'm from Toronto, and I've been using PdaNet for over a month now on my newly jailbroken iPhone (running 2.1) tethered to my macbook.

Literally easier then setting up a network at home.

-create a network on my mac (right click airport, create network)
(I always call mine "iPhone Modem")

-select network on iPhone in wifi settings

-open PdaNet and your surfing!

In Toronto I did a speedtest and run around 1.5Mbps

IMPORTANT

I asked rogers in the store when I bought the iphone if tethering is legal, they said yes, the employee called his manager to confirm that this was true. Still skeptical, I recieved a call from rogers to see how I was liking the service and asked again, they told me it was perfectly legal. I had them transfer me to a supervisor and they confirmed this a forth time. TETHERING IS LEGAL IN CANADA ON THE ROGERS NETWORK

CBC ran an article stating this last summer, here's the link.
http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2008/08/28/tech-iphone.html

unbelievable as it may seem, I got them to also confirm that my tethering usage is unlimited with my next 3 months of free voice and data that comes with my new plan.

With this kind of support from rogers, its no wonder apple is releasing the iPhone 3.0 OS with tethering standard.

sorry to babble on, this is my first post, cheers.

Am I worng for saying this? Unless you are downloading stuff (PDF, apps, etc.), web browsing alone should not exceed 5gb.

I haven't. I use it quite often to check my email and some other simple websites. Staying under 5GB of monthly download usage will keep you safe.

Does anyone know in my wireless network connection box, I don't have the "Wireless Networks" tab?

I have an XP acer netbook.

I can connect to pdanet just fine using the ubs cable but I can't connect wirelessly.
