I use mine naked, but it goes into a soft pouch when I’m out and about. I have a screen protector on it, mainly for peace of mind. I’m very OCD, and my phone always looks pristine.

No case on my 4S, 5, XS, or current 11 Pro Max. I did use an Apple leather case on my 6 plus and 7 plus because they were slippery (and so thin the case didn’t add much). For the XS and Pro Max, the plate for my Scosche magic mount car charger provides extra grip and a safe pad to set the phone on counters, desks, etc. I do have a minimal bumper I’ll put on for outdoor adventures.

The slate 5 had some road rash on the back and sides, but I’ve never had broken glass or significant damage. Much prefer a bare iPhone.

(black spot on the screen is a reflection of a fire sprinkler in the ceiling)

I upgrade every year, and have always gone naked, with the exception of using a case when in the car, so I can use a magnetic mount (I put this on, and take it off just for the car). Naked is the way to go. Definitely enjoy the thinness and materials, as well as the aesthetics. Very nice to slip in and out of the pocket. Screen protectors to me are a huge no-no. They get in the way of clarity, and I lose the nice oleophobic coating.

I don't drop phones. Most of the time, they end up near mint after a year when I sell them. My XS Max from last year looks brand new. Only exception may have been the jet black 7 with its micro scratches.

Even if it picked up some scratches along the way, who cares? It's a phone, you use it like anything you own. Not sure when and why this trend started of caring about a bit of wear on a used item. Also doesn't really matter in terms of resale value, you're selling a 1 year old phone that is just out of warranty, and I've always gotten a good deal with a well written ad and good pics, even with that jet black 7.

I have tiny scratches on the metallic bezel from using it naked. As long as I don't drop it and **** it up, I'm OK with it.

do you wrap it in plastic as to protect it from scratches and dents?
Does a clear coat count? Because I know several dealerships that offer it. Doesn’t protect against dents, but small scratches are on the clear coat instead of in the paint, making repairs cheaper.

I have a work iPhone that didn’t come with a case, so I figured it would be my test mule. I’ve got a couple light scratches on the screen that might bug me if it was my personal phone, but, even after a few drops, only the screen is a bother.

Not sure how screen protectors ’get in the way of clarity’? You can buy some really decent glass protectors these days, and they don’t affect how you use the phone at all.

I am very impressed how much more durable the Space Black stainless steel is than the raw stainless steel on my iPhone X🅂.

Been using my 11 Pro for a couple of months without a case and it’s still flawless. I’m not overly careful with it either. I really only make sure it goes in a cup holder in the car so it doesn’t slip out of my pocket and hit the seat rails (I’ve damaged phones in the past this way) and doesn’t share a pocket with my keys.

There is no case that can compare to the feel of the phone itself. If I had to choose something it would be Apple’s leather case.

An extra layer of relatively low quality glass between your eyes and screen will always get in the way a bit. Some more, some less, but it's always there. Plus, the antireflective coating, oleophobic coating etc.

Not everyone notices or cares, but I'd rather see the screen the best way I can.

Meh, doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the device. It’s a non-issue.

primary mission of my cell phone case is to hold credit card + Id.

i use a cell phone case to extend the iPhone functionality

even tho i have my iPhone with me at all times I dont need a case to extend its life

Wish I could but I can’t justify it, even if I repair it myself it’s still expensive.

Those few moments when it’s out of the case though when I’m giving it a clean, feels so damn good. Love the stainless steel.

That said I do also love the Spigen Tough Armour that I’ve got on it, feels great in the hand, buttons are amazing for a tough case and having the stand is awesome.
