Got mine this week as well. So far so good, I'm just trying to setup BBM.

Do you know of PIN requests go straight to the messages folder (where emails are stored) or if they are under the "text message" folder?!

Thanks for the help, BB noob over here :) (yes I am saying such things on an Apple forum haha) !!

Should show up under general Messages folder and under the actual BBM app.

If you get a request in BBM, you'll probably see a notification on the notification bar under the clock. Whether if it shows up on Messages, I can't quite remember. It'll also say under the notifications or request in the BBM app itself.

The 9780 is a nice device, especially after having owned the 9700. Enjoy. And check out crackberry.com if you already haven't.

HTC Evo. Phone is amazing. I was initially going to return it and buy the iPhone on Verizon, but I decided to keep it. Very happy with the decision. The only thing that could be better is the music player.

Thanks guys. I have been checking out crackberry.com for a while (actually helped me getting the 9780).

As for BBM, I am trying to get a really, really good looking coworker of mine, who's new to BBM, to get her PIN # (yes, it has to be a good reason to set it up, ain't it haha !!).

I already got it and sent the request, but is nowhere to be found in the text message folder (not the one for emails). She hasn't set up emails or anything yet.

I went back to BlackBerry - suits my needs much better than iPhone4 but I miss the multi-media prowess. It's amazing what that 9780 can do with just a 624Mhz cpu and 512MB RAM+Memory isn't it?!

Cannot WAIT until RIM ports QNX into their smartphones with much more powerful cpu's late 2011.

Back on iPhone 4. Got sick of upholding the excuses and late delayed releases & app updates for BB6. BB has some great features and power in the text world but IP4 is now better suited for my needs; I'm evolving.

BB5 is on work paid phone & hand only.

Motorla Defy running Android. Small, light, and durable. I like not being afraid to drop/scratch or abuse my phone. I don't even have a screen cover for it because it has gorilla glass. I've rooted it, removed blur and some crapware, and haven't looked back from my iPhone since.

Going to see what the Samsung Galaxy S2 looks like when its unveiled tonight. I already have a WP7 device but i have two numbers, one for work and one for personal use. The Galaxy S2 might be the other phone for me :)

tell me about it...when I was at the T-Mobile store, the sales lady actually hurled it at the ground to show me how durable it was. It bounced back into her hand like a superball. I also like how light it is compared to my old iPhone.

If you haven't figured this out yet - or for others still curious - you need to check the following:
1. she/other person has a data plan specific for BlackBerry.
2. on BB6 models (9800 Torch/Bold 9780) check in BBM icon (maybe in IM folder).
3. Don't confuse "Messages" with SMS or BBM or IM. By default most providers have SMS in its own icon now (though it can be shown in Messages) and IM should be on its own.

Accept the BBM invites directly in BBM.

Also take advantage of the FEEDS app for RSS Feeds, Twitter, FaceBook, etc notifications. This is what iPhone needs going into the future - sharing of data between related apps - even if genre restricted - if this could happen. Not needed now though.
