Me and cacti just don't get along. I took a job at a place that had a small cacti 'piece' that was relegated to the window sill in what turned out to be my office. In a week, or so, I had managed to kill it. A plant that you literally have to ignore, and I killed it! I KILLED IT! To make it worse, one of the other minions there told me 'It takes a lot of skill to kill those things!' I bowed, and admitted it. 'I am 'multi-talented' and can also do programming!'. My new boss said 'I hope he programs better than he raises plants'. His secretary was kinda bummed, said she liked that thing. Nice first impressions...:cool:

It apparently sat in that window for over 5 years. Damn... And it took me how long?

I feel your pain. I have also killed unkillable plants. I've done a lot of hard work to rise above the shame. I hope you have been able to do the same.

I have been thinking about starting a Plant Murderers Anonymous group. Are you interested?

Someone accused me of killing a fake plant! (No one had dusted it in probably decades) I will anonymously join the group.

I do have some plants that are thriving around me. I had an extensive hosta garden, until the deer found it. I did admit to sprinkling water on the cacti. I was amazed at how little water it took to kill it. What a diva! Oops...

I can grow just about anything except for succulents. For some reason those do not seem to like me.

I don't know what plants these are, but they are the only ones that I seem to not be able to kill. I had a Norfolk Pine that someone gifted me as they were moving across country, and it was dead in about 6 months. I LOVE them too. I was devastated. When they asked about it, I had to lie. I felt so defeated... I KILLED YOUR TREE!!!:(

I have to do some work in the yard today. I am spectacularly good at growing weeds.

Oxalis weeds are a hit here. I used a popular 'weed and feed', and the next year I noticed concentrations of that weed. Now, 7 years later, it's taken over most of the yard. It's not so bad of a problem except the stuff wilts and appears to die when it gets hot and dry, and makes the yard look like it's dead too. I've had people comment in past years over whether I kill yards too. (nice) I tried an Oxalis weed chemical, but it appeared to do nothing except drain my bank account. The damn weeds laughed at my attempts to get rid of it. It's a hard 'pest' to get rid of. I may, some day soon, end up with an entire lawn of it. I've given up. It doesn't grow very long, and tends to spread so quickly, and thoroughly, I don't bother fighting it.

EDIT: It would seem that Oxalis is a horrifically hardy and difficult weed to kill. I don't know the connection between it and the weed and feed, but when I googled it, thousands of links to exasperated lawn owners popped up. Yikes...

A sun seeking cat rug.

Ahh, but don't underestimate the power of the Sun. I was home from work sick back when I was a much younger man. I sat in a La-Z-Boy knockoff, in the sun. The cat (Russian Blue) I had at the time took it pon himself to occupy my previously vacant lap, and proceeded to pass out. The power of hedonistic suggestion worked hard on me, and I passed out too. It was 20 degrees outside, but we were toasting in the sun, and I have to admit it was the best nap I had in a long long time. I've pulled it off, thanks to the lessons of the master, in several places since. There is nothing wrong with hedonism, in moderation...????☀️??
