SUNLIGHT

(Dunno why I find this photo so funny)

Aha true. The problem with me is almost all my photo are my kitties oops
There is another photo section on MR for people to post snapshots of their pets..... That is really where most of these cat pictures belong, people!

Maybe the originator of this Photo Association Game thread needs to add a new rule or two, as I'm sure his initial intention was not for all of us to be inundated over and over again with cat photos.

Well if its really bothering people seeing pictures stuck in one category then maybe we can agree to only post one of each thing a day? I.e. each user gets 1 dog picture, 1 cat picture, 1 bunny picture, an so on, per day?

Perhaps we could limit it to better quality photographs of pets? Rather than the awful snapshots poorly composed and exposed images that seem to be posted without a thought to if they are good enough to share?

Please do so. And to make it perfectly clear, let's change the title of this thread to "Photo Association anything but cats Game Thread."

And speaking of "maybe" - maybe you should create a "curated" thread (or web site) where you and some like-minded people control what gets posted. I honestly think you would be happier with something like that. I say this in all sincerity.

I am pretty sure I have some cat photos where there is a sky in the background. But I don't want to give anyone a heart attack due to the outrage that would likely cause, so I will wait until later and I see a stronger association with the previous photo.

NOTE: This has nothing to do with the specific person who posted the prior photo, far from it. So please don't take this as being directed at that person. Thank you.

But countless flowers are ok? Perhaps another photo section for floral photos needs to be set up.

Aw no but I’m not a photographer so all my pics are bad. Also sometimes the worst ones are the funniest

So a while back, in either this thread or one of the Photo of the Day threads, someone asks what "criteria" people use to decide whether or not to like a photo. I don't think I had time to mention my reasoning behind liking photos, but I will now because I think it is relevant to the topic at hand.

I decide to like a post (be it a digital picture or technical info in the Mac, iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch forums) if the post contributes to the thread and / or it brings joy to me.

I like it when someone takes the time to:
  • Do an info dump on a technical topic, especially when it is clear the poster has knowledge and sometimes great interest, in what they are posting about. And this is a site devoted to technical products that Apple makes, which absolutely includes digital photography and videos given that many Apple products can be used to create that sort of thing.
  • Post a picture of video, especially of something I either can't take or would not think of taking, then that gets a like. This is why I like virtually every picture posted in this and the Photo of the Day threads. I get to see things I otherwise would not have seen, all thanks to someone else taking the time to create that photo and upload it here. And some of the pictures also encourage me to try something different when taking a picture or to take a picture of something I previously would not have considered.
Thank you to everyone who posts nice pictures, especially those I would not have taken myself. You make this a richer thread. I can't speak for anyone else, but I only view this thread and the Photo of the Day thread on a regular basis (and occasionally the competition threads - great pictures in those), and the wide variety of pictures that are posted is why.

I don't pretend to be a professional photographer, most of my current photos are taken with my iPhone 11 pro. Which to this day I still don't know how to use the features of the camera. But I try. Out of the thousands of photos I have most were taking years ago with a disposable camera. By your standards, I only have a handful of photos which would be deemed worthy of posting. (And of those photos the subject was my CAT Bella, she was the only one who would pose for me) I come here and enjoy all the photos the "quality pictures" as well as the "awful snapshots poorly composed and exposed." Thanks to all who post photos.
