That is the Sunshine Skyway. It crosses Tampa Bay from one county up/down to another. 7 miles long if I recall.
I grew up in the Clearwater - St Petersburg area, across the bay from Tampa.

Drove over that bridge a lot, it was pretty intimidating when I drove over when I was starting to drive, due to the length of the bridge and how big it seemed to me.

I still live in the area. North of the Bay. That’s the second version of the bridge. First was destroyed by a drunk ships pilot many years ago. My dad had just driven across a few minutes before that incident.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten all about that. I moved from Florida to South Carolina after I graduated college back in 1988, and only occasionally went back.

Glad your dad made it safely across. I'll bet he was blessing his lucky stars after that.

Another 7 mile bridge. This one in the Keys. Despite the sign, did have to stop for a photo op. Riding my bike over, really able to enjoy the color changes in the clear water.

I remember that bridge, my wife and crossed it on our motorcycles, my #1 son was on the back of mine and was scared something would happen part way across. You are brave to ride your bicycle, I don't like to ride on roads, I stick to trails that are converted from railroad tracks.

I'm told that the bridge in my previous photo, the Confederation Bridge which links Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick, is 8 miles long ;)
