Another shot from our lighting exercise in the snow on Mt. Hood. Shortly after this we had to get under cover for a half hour waiting out a brief spring mini-blizzard. Thank God for a nice warming hut at 7000 ft. :)
One prolight, front left, beauty dish. The reflection shows the light...

I really like the ethereal quality of this. The tones are very restful, and the softness of the image makes it seem very delicate. It has a nice glow to it...

Thanks.

I was admiring your photograph (it's amazingly clear). Professional work, I imagine (?)

I think it looks great! Even though it's a long exposure, it looks crisp and it's not a mess of flickering lights.

My sister took this one as she was trying out the t2i. Yellow lights overhead.

Very nice work. I think you can even see some stars shining there in the sky. (I'll believe they're not hot pixels). I always enjoy your images.

Mine for today:

The T2i is a really nice camera :), that shot looks pretty clean for iso 3200 as well.

Ducks Redux

I took this one today. A lovely day in Richmond Park, London. Spookily quiet because no planes overhead (Richmond Park is on the flight path to Heathrow). I liked the way the duck is surrounded by fallen blossoms.

Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture: f/6.3

Photo Caption: The Crew before we took off for Cologne. April 1944, my father is front left kneeling. The guys wanted to call the plane the "Bald Eagle", but the Captain was bald... so he named it the "Shady Lady".

Obviously, not a digital picture, but I've been scanning in some old family pictures. The oldest one I've done is from 1904. This one is impressive to me because of the quality. The original is only about 2 inches square. Scanned on a HP G4050 scanner attached to my 13" MBP. I've done several copies of this, scanned at 300, 600 and 1200 dpi. 1200 might be overkill, I'm having trouble telling which one is better. The question is, if I made prints which one would print better? The picture seen here was scanned at 600 dpi.

Elizabeth a.k.a. "little bit"

While she was playing around on the banks of the creek, a blue heron suddenly flew past... too fast to get a good shot of it, unfortunately. She did try to catch it, but as usual... no such luck. ;)

You've had some great shots lately. New camera? The DOF works great to isolate the head and the focussed eye becomes a bullseye. Nice work.

Here's mine for today.

First, let me say this is absolutely beautiful. As Fujiko7 said, very painterly. The colors are just a lovely combination!

Thanks to both you and Fujiko&... I appreciate the nice comments on my dog's picture. No...not a new camera, but maybe I'm just working a little harder these days... ;) She's a Mexican (Baja) rescue that I brought home as a pup. I have no idea what's her gene pool is, and her sister doesn't look much like her in color or shape. So, I just call her a Baja hound. :)
