Wow! This is an awesome capture MCH-1138...very well done with the black background to emphasize the colours.

Thanks for the kind words, Cheese&Apple. There is another one with brilliant turquoise/green/gold coloring that I have seen flying about that would really pop against the dark background. We'll see if I have the luck and patience to capture that one. I'd like to experiment with the position of the speedlights to try and bring out the iridescent coloring a little more.

Hi Hugh,

Bridges and pathways can be very interesting subjects. Just a suggestion is that you may want to think about is trying to crouch down to capture a lower perspective that includes more of the pathway. That way you can take the viewer on a bit of a journey down the path. A nice bonus is having someone or something (dog maybe) at the end of the pathway.

Thanks for your comments, it's always welcome and helpful to me.
I did have one of the dog crossing the bridge, but it was at the wrong angle, and that dog never stays still enough to be in the right place.
I may go back to that bridge today to find my lens cap which somehow got lost while we were out.

Here's a snap of Sam enjoying a biscuit after yesterday's walk - he's 13 and after 3 - 4 miles he arrived back and carried on bouncing as normal.

Love the Blue Jay, such beautiful colours !

Cheers :)

Hugh

Messing around with my first M4/3 camera. Way, way up there, Alcázar of Segovia.

Olympus OM-D E-M1, Olympus 12-40 Pro lens @15mm, 1/125 @ f/7.1 handheld. Processed a bit in LR.

Well, I've been gone a while. Spent a couple of months without getting much photography in and kinda forgot to check in here to the Photo of the Day thread in some time.

So here goes, my attempt at getting back into the groove:

It's been some time since I posted an image here.. I took this last year during the F1 Grand Prix of Austin.

Used a Canon T3i

The Anglican Church at Old Noarlunga, South Australia. Taken on a very bright day, this is a 327 second long exposure for the clouds , which was composited with a shorter exposure for the church and surrounds.

Nice composition. Were you using a ND filter for the clouds?

Yes, AFB. The Hitech IRND Pro 10 stop filter, it has almost no colour cast to it. Here is the straight out of camera, original of the clouds, as an untouched export, complete with sensor spots and compressed to comply with a file under 3MB.
