Had some fun this week. Sigma hosted a photo contest at the College of Southern Nevada. There were two requirements - you had to use a Sigma lens and you could only submit a JPG straight off of the camera with no post processing. They had multiple copies of most every lens in both Nikon and Canon mounts that you could check out for up to an hour.
With the time constraints and having to stay on campus it really put the pressure on. The shot had to be right the first time, clone stamps not allowed.
There were six categories:
- People/Portraits
- Architecture
- Macro
- Experimental/Creative
- Product/Still Life
- Nature/Plant/Wildlife
This was my entry in the Experimental/Creative category.

Hello,
Former member back after a few years, both from MacRumors and from photography. I have been enjoying this thread as well as a few others recently and felt like I should contribute after simply browsing for a while. Below is a shot from a few years ago - I have been going through my photo collection after not having a computer to do so for ~3 years. Sadly sold the body and lens collection used below a while back but recently picked up a 70D and slowly getting back into it, shots to come hopefully.

posted 5 more pics on the series here
Pushing that creativity as usual. Very professionally done. Arty instead of smutty.

Nice! Clever idea really well executed.
Sounds like a fun day. Very creative.
Thank you.
Since I couldn't do any post work it is a bit over exposed. Even simple level adjustments in Lightroom make a huge difference. The sky above him pulls in more detail but remains a dingy grey while the blue sky defined within the silhouette gets really nice and saturated. For me the overall feeling is that he is dreaming of clear skies in a post industrialized world.
There is another shot where the silhouette is completely burned out. So the torso is only defined by the tree and the sky goes white. In that one I think the composition is better. Also the yellow stripe is centered on the tip of the tree and the branches follow the shoulders perfectly. It was even lighter so that's why I didn't submit it but it is recoverable in post.
This was my first attempt at doing a double exposure. I knew the look I was going for but had to experiment a bit to get the right balance. Some of them came out rich an dark but failed in composition. The best compositions all happened to be over exposed. Overall it was a fun experiment in a fun competition.

Thank you. Yes it was a fun couple of days. I was able to do two shots Monday after work and three more yesterday during an *cough* extended lunch break.![]()
Still feel like I'm cheating but I just pretend that the digital camera I used on this shoot is just a very expensive stills camera that can do bursts of 120fps!

They are very nice shots i
at 120fps, are you handholding a RED camera? Or a gopro?
If gopros could come out with that quality and raw files out of the camera I would buy one in a heartbeat!
It was shot on a RED Epic with super speeds. Probably my favourite combo at the moment.
I have just posted my first nude collection, named NUDE FORM

Another macro shot. This one from a telephone pole painted with graffiti.

Yesterday a friend and I ventured downtown to the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC, to shoot the still-emerging cherry blossoms. While there was a small crowd there, since Friday-Saturday-Sunday will be "peak," that is when the place will be jammed. Some of the trees are in near-full bloom while others are still on the way.
