The Grand Prix seems so long ago. Speed wasn't exclusive to the ground.....

One of my favourite locations. Somewhere I'd love to go back to.

We have been very lucky with the weather. It has been lovely weather everyday. We went over to Holy Island this afternoon. That was fun out over the causeway.

I have some pictures but I wasnt feeling the chi to be honest so not many good ones. :-(

Hope you get up here again soon.

I could do a selfie, but people might throw up!

I like the simplicity.

Still playing and trying to learn off camera lighting. Jake (the dog) ran out of patience with me so I turned to other subject matter.
Very nicely done. I tried this a while back with less pleasing results.

It almost looks like one of those impossible stair case drawings. Does my brain in a little. Nicely captured.

Fair enough.

Not sure if it's relevant, but they are good for understanding how it feels to be on that side of the camera. That is, if you're interested in taking photos of people.
To be honest people aren't really my thing. Probably a confidence thing.
I hate having my photo taken. Always have.
So many people say that though don't they.

Is this just IR or any light filters as well? Anyway I like it.

Thanks AFB!

Somewhat complicated answer to your question. I was using a special IR camera modified to see UV/blue as well as IR (Super Blue IR, https://www.lifepixel.com/infrared-filters-choices). This conversion lets you get this kind of funky spectrum. You can always add filters to the lens to either only see UV or only see IR if you want a narrower spectrum for some shots.

For this shot of the flower, it was actually horizontal with the bulb to the left and the stem to the right. I used a standard flash shot through an umbrella on the left (i.e. what ended up at the top) and an IR flash shot through an umbrella on the right (i.e. what ended up at the bottom). The standard flash added a broader color spectrum to the bulb part of the flower while the IR flash made the stem and base of the bulb more uniform (i.e. strictly IR). Both still aren't "normal" and have an IR look.

In effect, I was using two different colored light sources to illuminate the flower (like using different colored gels on separate flashes). In this case I think it was less jarring than it would be in standard color photography because colors are already wonky in IR. I ended up with a smooth/pleasing color transition (I think) between the two light sources.

Like all IR photography, WB needs to be either custom preset in camera or the images need to be converted from RAW in something other than Adobe (like Nikon Capture NX-D), since Adobe RAW conversion doesn't allow you to adjust WB appropriately for IR images and it can't be fixed later in LR or PS.

I have a face fit only for radio... No way I am going in front of the camera!
