A granite glacial erratic near Loch Dee in the heart of the Galloway Hills.
I planned this trip days in advance due to the sunny intervals forecast, knowing full well that the light would break through the cloud in patches and selectively illuminate the landscape.
I feel this photo sums up the nature of the Galloway Hills nicely due to the ever changing light and weather. This remote, unforgiving wilderness can go from sunshine to dark cloud in minutes. It really has it's own weather system. I pretty much experienced the 4 seasons in the short time I was there.
I've always wanted to visit the valley floor of Loch Dee after seeing it from the tops of the many hills that surround it. A 6 hour visit to this place yesterday only scratched the surface. I'll definitely be back, whether on the valley floor or back up in the hills.
