I
I drive to my wife's work almost daily (only 12 minutes away) to walk around the technology park the university she works for resides in. This building belongs to Micro Focus, who used to be named Novel. Novel was a large tech company and probably occupied most of the park. The top 3 floors of their building is unoccupied. I think they survive on networking patents. It's a nice walk and sure beats sitting around the house. We rarely see or pass anyone.

First time having my camera out since we moved at the start of December. Robin was giving us a lovely evening song, so thought I'd snap his picture.

Is the European robin as bold as the American variety? Ours you can usually walk right up to before they hop away. I’ve gotten within a few feet of them before.

In my experience they are very skittish and won't let you close, hence the need for a longer lens.
Their song is beautiful though.

Cheers :)

They are. Often referred to as the gardeners friend as they turn up whenever you do some digging etc.
Maybe it's just me then :D

Is it mating season, or has that finished and she is already pregnant?
She could be pregnant (don't really know), and has a young calf. Both the mother and calf look quite healthy, a little chubby :) They have been hanging around the neighborhood for a couple of weeks already, and stop by my backyard every now and then.

Both are very calm and used to people as long as one keeps a few yards away, but you can tell by the ears that she was keeping a close watch. She was perhaps 25 yards away when I took that photo from my house's elevated deck (Canon 200mm lens on a 5DII).

Try a different deodorant! I’ve seen them eat from people’s hands.
At our old house our robin was quite skittish. The pair here are much braver.
They run off the few sparrows if they see them.
