People went a little bonkers after that day. I lived near the WTC on 9/11, had tanks rolling down the streets and military checkpoints to get anywhere near my house. Oddly though, I saw not one military jet, or can't recall seeing any, it's a bit of a blur now. Lotsa heavily armed soldiers though
In the days when they grounded all flights, we had an arrogant flight instructor no body liked, decided he was going up anyway. Nobody was going tell him what to do! Our little airport was right in the middle of the Finger Lakes in rural NY. I was in the back yard when 2 F-15s flew over at a low altitude and forced him to land his little plane. $10K fine!

After experiencing the PET recycling in McDonalds and along my walk to the train station pass the chicken beer machine, felt assured it couldn't possibly get any worse. Then I discover that I am on the FART train.

Ferrovie Autolinee Regionali Ticinesi – Regional Bus and Rail Company of Canton Ticino

Actually, it was a nice ride winding through the mountains between Locarno and Domodossola, It, where able to reconnect with the Swiss SBB train system to my daughter's home where I was visiting. Only excitement, and I don't know if was police or customs, somewhere around the Italian border, a n armed squad boarded the train and checked everyone's passport.
