Tanagra (not really)
For the last 3 years, a pair of robins have taken to nesting on top of my downspout for their hatchlings. Mom is on the nest, and dad hangs out in a tree nearby keeping watch and bringing her treats. I gotta say, if I was a robin, it's a good spot. Sturdy, out of the wind and rain, seconds from fine dining. Location, location, location. :D

My cousin in Portland was born the day before it erupted!

I was solo climbing the North Ridge of Mt. Baker when it went off on my descent. It was a directional blast and I could hear it at that distance - I thought someone had lit off dynamite in the area. I was training for a big climb in Alaska and had almost gone to St. Helens that day instead - I had done it a number of times and knew a back way into the exclusion zone and nobody was expecting a massive blow. Thankfully, I didn't want to do the long drive from Seattle and went to Baker instead. Driving home southbound on I-5, the plume was amazing to see.
