Thanks!

Just picked up my 6D. Got a great deal at John Lewis - £1429, 2 year warranty, £150 cashback, Adobe Lightroom 5 and Premiere Elements 11. So all in all it cost me around £1100 (I was going to buy lightroom and elements anyway!).

Nice. Don't forget to update that signature!

Congrat's, that sounds like a good deal you got. I look forward to seeing some great shots soon. I am continuously blown away by the quality of this camera as a fairly recent purchaser of one. The 24-105 lens that you have is perfect as the first to go with this camera, very versatile and good imagery. Enjoy!

Another shot slightly further up the trail from The Gap of Dunloe, Killarney, Ireland. The lighting conditions were very difficult due to the low morning sun coming from the left of the shot - lots of dark shadows and bright highlights. Hopefully my new 6D can allow me to recover them better in PP than my 400D. This as close as I can get to how the scene looked in real life.

Thanks. Would have loved to have it with me in Ireland for all the landscape shots - although I think I would have dropped it as I slipped a few times on some photos to come!

Technically not a great picture but I really like the dreamy feel to it. I think I've moved away from trying to take technically good shots and my favourites are more and more about feeling.

What a strange flower. I've never seen one of those. Nice shot. Do you use extension tubes for your macro shots by the way? I've been reading up on then and Bryan Peterson recommends them. They are relatively cheap, so I'm thinking about buying a set.

I shot this one with my 24-105mm lens. This flower probably wouldn't grow too well in your neck of the woods, too cold I would think.

I used extension tubes for the water drop shot I entered the weekly contest with this week. If you do get some, make sure they have contacts so you can still control the aperture from the camera body. I want bellows next, so I can get in even closer still. If you are capturing moving targets you will also need a ring flash to stick on the end of your lens if you get extension tubes. It's worth it to get the ones with ETTL so that you can just click away and the camera does all the work for you in regard of metering. Especially if you are intending on going walkabout with a macro lens. They start at about $150 and go up. There's nothing worse than spotting a little critter, snapping away 3 or 4 times until you get the light balance right and having your subject disappear on you!

Thanks!

Congratulations! It really is a great camera and I haven't been able to fault mine yet. However, seeing your upgrading from a 400d perhaps consider some insurance. Not until I really started to think about it did I realise that I actually have a lot of money tied up in equipment and losing/breaking/getting my equipment stolen would not make me a happy bunny at all!

If you're anything like me you will have got the bug now... Sigma 35mm f1.4 is next for me!

Crazy colours! So surreal. Just incredible!

IMHO, the second shot is very good but the first is truly outstanding Archie. The shadow on her face accentuates the mood of the shot and fits perfectly with the composition.

So much clearer when you put them side by side!

Thanks for the comment, I think the first is my choice as well.

Probably used to people from me but this one is different. I was given the option of exchanging a bit of time at a holiday house in exchange for building a portfolio of images for potential renters.

Much harder than I thought and I really overestimated how wide my 24mm is on FF.

I hope they like the photos but I can't help but feel they are a little underwhelming!

This is probably one of the better ones.

As always, comments appreciated!

That is bloody gorgeous!

Relative newbie to photography here, so i'm not entirely sure i know what i'm speaking of. But I don't see any dark shadows, bad lighting or highlights in this shot. Whatever magic you worked seems to have done the job and then some.

I visited the Chiltern Open Air Museum today which was a series of old buildings done out to look like various time periods. Really quite interesting. Expect to see a few pics from it over the coming days ;)

I really don't do many shots like this so, speaking from an observer's perspective, there is a fair bit happening in this shot but it feels a bit empty. I think champagne in the glasses and some colourful food (not too much – maybe a salad) on the plates would make a big difference.

Just another observation…the focus on the champagne bottle is good as this conveys a celebratory feeling but crystal champagne flutes instead of wine glasses would add a genuine touch of class.

Again, speaking from an observer's perspective and someone who probably knows more about food than photography.

Thanks! I just got Lightroom 5 (free with my new Canon 6D) so I'm going to process this one again tomorrow to see the difference from Aperture.

Hope you like the look of this one. It's the first from my Welsh trip yesterday.

Please feel free to give advice etc.

Try taking a couple of shots from lower protectives, like on your belly or kneeling down. Then look at all of the shots from this one spot to see which one you like the best. Also, maybe someone walking on the bridge off in the distance with a colorful shirt. Just some thoughts.
