Less lost in L.A.
I shared this a while ago in the astro pics thread, but I like it so much I thought it deserved another showing. :D

Front lighting was via the iPhone 6 light (flash in flashlight mode). I waved it around a few seconds and took 3 images with varying timings on the light.

My new app, ExifLogger, helped me with the settings via past recordings.

If you are using the ExifExt extension in Safari, it is not capturing the GPS correctly.

The giant Quan-Yin shown in context, she really makes you feel minuscule underneath her.

I've possibly been a little heavy-handed with the vignette. It looks good on the old 27" iMac and the new 24" monitor, but not so much on the iPhone and iPad, where the vignette is really apparent.

Wow very high and very impressive. I like the way the statue contrasts against the background after the B&W conversion.

Thanks ! It's one of these images that seems better in black and white . I took the shot in the late afternoon , maybe 6 PM or a bit after . The foreground lights, pier and pilings were in the shadow of a large former railroad station that was maybe 50 or so feet behind me , while the city was in sunlight . Tried to equalize the lighting some to bring up the shadow area but it wasn't working so I tried a B&W conversion of the raw image , played with the color sliders some ,and this popped out . Might be great if I can hit it during the 'purple hour' when the city lights are just coming on . Got a great shot of the 'Towers of Light' on 9-11 a few years back from a few hundred feet from here.

I was messing about and found this picture in one of my Flickr archives. Thought it was good to show scale of the Kelpies near Kilmarnock, Scotland. Notice the silhouette of the photog on the left...

Interesting ... I used to spend my Summers in Kilmours (halfway between Kilmarnock and Stewarton) as a boy and worked for 10 years in East Kilbride (well actually it was only one year, but it seemed like ten). It seems like we have more in common than just Grapevine Mills.

Lol... this is getting scary... I lived in Cambuslang for the past 8 years... right next to East Kilbride! pleasure to meet you.
