Trying some new post processing ideas for a more dramatic look. Any good?

Hmm. A bit heavy vignette for my taste. Feel free to ignore my amateur opinion.

I did some further editing of the earlier posted picture. I think I found something. That was no moon...

I have a bad feeling about this....

Just a butterfly...

Nice.

Here's my eclipse viewing from yesterday. We were in about 85% viewing? Better than not at all, but definitely not spectacular. We only stayed till peak and left when it started thundering (and then in downpoured about 15 minutes later). Part of me really wants to flip the left side to the right side to make it the whole progression, but I think that's cheating. ;) Although I admit I've seen at least one image that way with a clear flip (which I can tell due to cloud cover). Oh well. At least I got something! I bought a 4x4 square of solar paper and taped it over my 70-200. #fancy

Yeah looking at it I see your point... Still learning...

Is that a Grant or maybe a Campbell tartan? can't really see enough of it. Beautiful detail and textures. Welcome back!

Glad to see you back!
I was wondering if everything was OK ;)

Cheers :)

Hugh

Cheers gents - much appreciated. Tartan can be a bit in-your-face so tried for a subdued look. Actually Black Watch but there is no way you could tell from this photo - similar colours to the buttonhole, albeit darker shades. I've got umpteen things to post, only a couple of wedding-related, so be prepared to be bored for a while yet...

very challenging lighting conditions-- I shot this particular image underexposed, and then brought it back in post. I may have gone a bit overboard with vibrancy and saturation, though. It smells a bit like rotting meat, thus its common name, corpse flower.

One day past peak bloom.

Why did someone cut out a rectangle on the left one?

Happy birthday to me! Today is my 50th birthday. I'm glad I was able to share this celebration with a whole lot of people in the US.

This is moments before totality. I took the lens filter off at this point, and it left some interesting rainbow refraction in the image.

Happy birthday big man. And that is an awesome shot!

Eastern Oregon in early morning.

Beautiful country. I'm starting to understand why so many Americans don't travel to foreign countries so much - there is plenty to see on this continent. Some landscapes reminded me of Switzerland (weird, I know), some - of Newfoundland. Others are just unique in every way. Europeans need to plan for at least 2 months to give it a good go.

Sure is . The VanVleck House and Gardens in Montclair . I'd known about the place for a while , but never got there until today . It's just down the road from the Presby Iris Gardens, one of my go to spots in late May . Maybe VanVleck & Presby will become a Spring garden blitz one day ( along with lunch at Cuban Pete's on Bloomfield Av.) next spring . More info ...https://vanvleck.org

Worth getting up for!

Keeping my fingers crossed that I haven't shared this one already. These are the eyes of a Dragonfly, taken as part of an f/2.8 challenge on a photographic forum, using some extension tubes too, for extra reach as I'm using a full-frame camera. I was surprised at the amount of dust and debris visible, perhaps I should have cloned it all out. Might be worth the exercise.
