Happy birthday to me! Today is my 50th birthday. I'm glad I was able to share this celebration with a whole lot of people in the US.

This is moments before totality. I took the lens filter off at this point, and it left some interesting rainbow refraction in the image.

All my eclipse shots are on my "real" camera, and I have no computer with me, so those will have to wait a couple of days. In the meantime, enjoy this iPhone shot of the lawn flamingos.

For what it's worth, the total eclipse is way more impressive in real life than even the most magnificent photos of it. I'm seriously contemplating how to make sure I happen to be in South America for the next one.

Charleroi Airport this morning. I think this car has been here a while. (Rough and ready process on an iPad using Affinity Photo. Not too shabby, but I miss Alien Skin Exposure!)

Here's my eclipse viewing from yesterday. We were in about 85% viewing? Better than not at all, but definitely not spectacular. We only stayed till peak and left when it started thundering (and then in downpoured about 15 minutes later). Part of me really wants to flip the left side to the right side to make it the whole progression, but I think that's cheating. ;) Although I admit I've seen at least one image that way with a clear flip (which I can tell due to cloud cover). Oh well. At least I got something! I bought a 4x4 square of solar paper and taped it over my 70-200. #fancy

When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. And that one sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that’s what you’re going to get, Son, the strongest castle in all of ... scotland

I did some further editing of the earlier posted picture. I think I found something. That was no moon...

Where's Luke Skywalker when we need him?

Happy birthday and great photo :)

Not been around much this summer - too much travel and work.

My buttonhole from my son's recent wedding - Scottish theme as you might expect and reflects my prickly nature (so I'm told). Comments always appreciated. Very simple setup (as reflected in the results) - EOS M3 with 22mm and built-in flash.

Is that a Grant or maybe a Campbell tartan? can't really see enough of it. Beautiful detail and textures. Welcome back!
