Our feeders are rat proof. You get a small amount of spillige, but the ground feeders take care of most of that. Plus we have some cages on the ground that prevent rats and pigeons getting a look in.Rats like bird seed more than birds do.

We have 7. The nut feeders don't get much action in the summer.Water is often overlooked we put four bowls around the garden at different heights but I must admit sometimes I forget to fill them
Good idea leaving the neighbours to feed them, I think that maybe why we have so many rats, although I do now know they live in the adjacent garden and have called environmental health so hopefully they’ll sort them out.
That must cost an arm and a leg, I feed once daily or sometimes every other day, I do however have several feeders so there is always food somewhere.
It’s great when they all turn up en mass, they make a right racket and always make me smile.
It keeps Mrs AFB busy whilst I'm at work. Anything that distracts her is a good thing.
