'Stories to tell'.

Too many of us don't stop to listen to our aged population.

My grandmother totally mesmerized me with stories of the great depression, and how everything was rationed. Of losing the sugar coupon, and having to come home and tell her mum that she lost it. Of all of the things that happened, with the context in their lives. I remember my parents talking of the JFK assassination. I wasn't even walking when it happened. To hear my grandparents-in-law talk about owning the first color tv on the block.

I wonder what stories I could mesmerize the young in the next 10 to 15 years.

Like, the first browser? The first cell phone? The first 'weather channel', on the first cable system I ever had? *sigh* I'm old...😄

Have to share. I was in the UK, and saw 'Big Ben', and commented that it looked so small. The guide said 'That's what most people say'. But it's not so different. I remember Times Square. It looks, and IS so small, but on TV, it looks massive. So cool to travel, and see things. (The same guide said that Abbey Road wasn't worth seeing, and if I went on my own to NOT reenact the album cover. 'People hate that, and you might get run over!'.😆😆😆😆

Cruising on Lac Leman (Lake Geneva). Part of a fleet from that era, commissioned in 1910, originally for shipping goods and produce until trains, now passenger ferries - competing with trains and busses - with specific scheduled routes and special (diner, etc) cruises on the lake. Notice both French and Swiss flags, serving ports in both countries.

He lives on a narrow boat just him and his dog. I snapped the photo yesterday at the local canal festival.

Here’s another from the day.
