Never been to San Francisco.
So far I’ve visited quite a few big cities in the states. New York and San Francisco are probably the next two I’d go to, but not much chance of that.
Definitely go to San Francisco first before heading to the big city in New York. San Francisco is a vibe.
 
I grew up 18 miles due west from NYC, totally different than SF. I always said it was city with the best of the best and the worst of the worst. We used to go drinking in NYC because it was only 18 and Jersey was 21.

I visited San Francisco many times - most recently in 2010... but there is something special about the energy of NYC. Love both cities, but for obviously different reasons...
I really don't think you can compare New York to any other city in the U.S. New York will always be New York. I agree, It is very special and it feels like home.
