When we were in Alaska on hospital project, we went out touring on Sunday and came across some of these cute creatures by the side of the road, seemed tame. Some one called them Furry Marmots, are the same or two different creatures.Back in 2017, an Arctic Ground Squirrel's pup (bad lighting, however).

There are three types of Marmots indigenous to the state of Alaska. The Arctic Ground Squirrel is a different creature. The ground squirrel is also referred to as a "parka" squirrel as their pelt makes a good ruff for parkas. Having said all that, I'm not sure which creature you and Alaska Moose are presenting, but I would guess they are both Arctic Ground Squirrels? I laugh at myself! I am no expert but I love animals and immediately started googling. When we were in Alaska on hospital project, we went out touring on Sunday and came across some of these cute creatures by the side of the road, seemed tame. Adding to the confusion with the parka squirrel is another small furry creature called the pika, and you're likely to run across both while out on a hike in Alaska. They even share a similar territory. One difference is that squirrels hibernate and pikas don't, and you can tell them apart by their calls, too. Arctic squirrels have an almost birdlike call, whereas pikas have more of a squeak. There are three types of Marmots indigenous to the state of Alaska. Marmots are much larger in size the Arctic Ground Squirrels, too. I have seen a couple of Marmots in the yard around my house, but haven't had my camera with me at the moment. However, a few weeks ago one of them was on the driveway where I park my car (the dog saw it first as she stared and growled at it out the living room window). I managed to take a couple of photos when the Marmot was under the car, but just heat shots. There are three types of Marmots indigenous to the state of Alaska.
