Submersion
October 2018

Low water levels at Clatteringshaws Loch show some old tree stumps that are normally submerged below the depths. This unusual occurrence offers a rare (albeit small) glimpse into what the landscape looked like prior to the dam being built in the 1930's for the Galloway Hydro Electric Scheme in SW Scotland. Rumour has it there are also submerged buildings and the likes under there too...

Shot info: Fuji X-T2 with XF 16-55mm f2.8mm lens using Formatt Hitech Firecrest 3.0 Neutral Density solid filter, Firecrest 105mm Ciruclar Polarising Filter and Lee Filters 0.6 Neutral Density Soft Graduated filter.

Ooh, he's gorgeous, isn't he?!!! Lovely shot!

Send him down here -- we've got a lovely little lake he can swim and play on -- I'd love to have an opportunity to see and photograph him! Extraordinarily beautiful bird!
He's the star of Central Park since he appeared mysteriously last Fall . Doesn't look real , at least not like anything real in North America . I think folks expected him to head south when it got cold , but he seems happy here . He's integrated himself with the flock of usual mundane waterfowl that lives in the pond and subsists on whatever bugs or pond crud they can find , plus generous portions of stale bread , bits of hot dog , pizza crusts , and whatever else little kids pitch into the pond .
You want to grab him , head up on New Year's Eve , everyone will be in Times Square .

I got really behind in December with editing everyday, so I have some work to do to catch up my final P365 collection. But in the meantime, I figured I'd get started on practicing for my P52 of diptychs for 2019. I know the rules are one photo per day, so if you guys would rather I don't post them as diptychs, let me know, and I will separate them to different days. The challenge for me is to shoot one subject in two ways that coordinate. But I don't want to upset the apple cart! :) (Plus it won't be a diptych every single day, just once a week.)

I personally am looking forward to it.

Nice morning , pretty warm , so I figured I'd try some more duck photography , this time with a bit longer lens . Loads of folks in Central Park , some by the pond with serious photo gear . Anyway , things worked out much better than expected , and I've got January knocked off for my next year's Christmas calendar.

It's a Mandarin Duck . Not native to the U.S. . Apparently some folks keep them as pets and I guess this one got away . Must have headed to NYC with the intent of blending in with the crowds.

The sculpture is made of painted steel and consists of a 14 foot diameter circle. On the periphery of the sculpture stand approximately 34 figures, each represents an important event or person in St. Elmo's history from Dragging Canoe, to the Civil War, to Chattem, to a present day hiker and an homage to the neighborhood's beloved annual Corgi Parade.

Good morning from Glasgow. Shot with my new toy, the Oly 7-14mm f2.8. Still getting the hang of this beautiful bugger but oooh I love it. The Aparthotel where I'm staying were kind enough to let me up to the Penthouse before the guests arrived this afternoon.
