Followup to yesterday's photo. Manatee and school of fish in spring fed run to river. Panoramic with camera elevated about 18 feet (6 meters).

Yes, we used to do the same thing when I was a kid/teen. It is a great family memory you are creating for them!

My husband swears up a storm every year because of the cold and tying the tree to the car and then being anxious about it falling off on the hour long drive home but he knows it’s a good tradition too. :)

I just recently found the POTD threads .... is the intent to post recently taken images or is it ok to pick out older ones to share?

Thanks

I'm another who once in a while reaches into my archives and pulls out something to share when inspiration just hasn't struck or when I'm not particularly happy with whatever I might have shot on a given day. I like to try to shoot every day but some days just get too busy to allow that or I forget, but I like continuing to share in here because it does keep me motivated and gets the creative juices stirring. When I've been away from home and have had an opportunity to do more extensive shooting such as at an event, I like to share those, too, as I get around to post-processing and editing them. Those are usually newer and more current than something I've plucked from my archives files, which are images from years past.

It's also OK to shoot with whatever one has on hand, whether it be a high-end professional large or medium format camera, a DSLR, an m4/3, a sophisticated compact camera, a P&S or a cell phone camera.... Jump in, the water's fine!

Being an averagely sized American or European in Japan has it perks, hasn't it? A clear view even in the biggest crowds… ;)

Anyway: not completely fresh, but here's an autumnal shot of a local cemetary.

This is a lovely image and reminds me of the song "Concrete Angel."

Actually I wish I had your height. Being averaged sized compared to most Japanese I don't have the advantage of a good vantage point but at least I blend in quite well :)

Oh yes, how I remember those miserable trips to the cut your own tree farm and then dragging and loading it on or into the car. The wife and kids loved it though.

With the local tree lighting ceremony the adjacent museum that features as a permanent home Louis Comfort Tiffany's stained glass was open to the public for free. Usually, they do not allow photos inside so I didn't have my camera as they waived the rule for the event. This and those in the next few days taken with an iPhone and pleasantly surprised with the low light.
