The Christmas sand sculptures in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are always worth a visit. They can reach up to 20ft tall. This shot from about 10 years ago.
Such things are all over the Internet already. There also are threads somewhere in this forum about taking photos of the sky, nebulas, and so on. Well, not all are about the Auroras borealis

The people who do the sand sculptures are very talented. It's quite a coarse sand and I don't think they use anything special to hold it together, just misting it with water to keep the sand damp.Incredible! What do they use to keep the sand together?
I guess and hope they are doing better after the terrible eruption they just had.
Thanks for pointing that out: I'm confusing names, so close to each other. The people who do the sand sculptures are very talented. It's quite a coarse sand and I don't think they use anything special to hold it together, just misting it with water to keep the sand damp.
Thankfully the eruptions seem to be dying down, but a lot of people have lost their homes.
NB The eruptions are on the island of La Palma, about 200 miles west of Gran Canaria.
Yes, threads like that are quite common, and most times the photographers provide the details relating how they set their cameras (tripod use, manual focus to "infinite", lens aperture, ISO speeds dependent on ambient light, etc.)I guess you mean this thread?

Well, your "tactfulness" too was in the middle of a thread. As you can see, a lot of us comment about numerous images posted here. But please accept my most sincere apology, not only from me, but in behalf of all others who comment about the photos in this thread. I do have to figure how to use the "toggle multi-quote" thing, so my apologies for that too.Well, I was trying to tactfully suggest that if people wanted to discuss this, to do it somewhere other than in the middle of a thread which is meant for sharing/displaying images. We have a whole subforum in which to start and participate in discussion threads.
Thanks!Multiquote is fairly simple. Between “Like” and ”Reply” is ”+Quote.” When you click it, it adds that quote, just like a Reply, except that it doesn’t start your post yet. You can “+Quote” as many posts as you like in advance. When you get to the reply box, next to “Attach Files” you’ll see “Insert Quotes. Just hit that button, and it will pop up all the quotes you’ve selected in the first step. You can add and remove them here, or just proceed with “Quote messages. It will give you a space between each quote for you to type a reply.
You can also quote select text from within any post, but that’s a how-to for another post!
