Shot this last night just a couple miles from the Appalachian Trail. Set my iPhone up, used ProRAW, manually adjusted exposure to 30 seconds, then imported in to Snapseed and adjusted the exposure level down. That is it. No filters or any other post processing! Amazing what a smartphone camera setup can capture these days.

*Also, I used the Sky Guide app (highly recommended for any star gazers) and that is Andromeda towards the middle of the photo. Crazy because that was no visible with the naked eye.

I looked at your image and thought “an iPhone captured M31, wow”

I've not really shot much this month, other than obligatory family christmas/birthday stuff (my daughter turned 16 yesterday). But here is one from earlier in the month.

Hey thanks! I am using the iPhone 13 Pro. I used ProRAW, set my phone up on an adirondack chair (yeah I’m a total amateur), and manually adjusted the exposure from a maximum of 10 seconds by default to 30 seconds (once the phone is stabilized). I then exported the image to Snapseed which has a series of settings specifically for RAW format photos, and all I did was adjust the exposure down as the image was fairly bright. It was incredible seeing so many more stars once I adjusted the exposure down. And yeah M31 aka Andromeda is pretty awesome. Hard to believe it’s the closest galaxy and yet it’s still over 2 million light years away. The cosmos is an impossibly and nearly unfathomably vast thing. The more I am learning to adjust various settings on my phone and with the ability to shoot RAW (I believe became available on the 12 Pro models last year) it’s really made shooting with my phone really enjoyable. Just about every photo I post here is shot with my iPhone because most of the time I have no idea when or what I will shoot pictures of, so it’s nice to have a pretty good little point and shoot that has the flexibility my 13 Pro does.

You‘ve got the right tires for that! Is that ice caked up on the frame?

Those are studded carbide tip fat tires, 27.5” x 4.0”, depending on snow I run them 4psi thru 7psi.
Quite a workout.
That’s mud from a few days before, I’m part of trail coordinator crew and we were doing maintenance on a wet day, hence the front fender also.

I’ve got 2 fattie bikes, my 2 high school boys ride with me. Both have studded tires for winter, we’ve rode on pure icy trails before.

Where in Jamaica if you don’t mind? That’s probably one of the most memorable vacations I’ve had in my lifetime, we spent a week in Negril at a Couples resort. Absolutely amazing experience all the way around. The hospitality was perfect.
We were in Montego Bay and also visited Rick's café in Negril. I agree the hospitality was amazing.
