LOL! Actually, the other three male Hooded Mergansers had already swum away, leaving these two guys with the sole gal. They had all put on an amazing show for her (and for me!), with lots of posturing and splashing around in order to impress the lady.....and then it was down to just the two. One of them went through some more elaborate attempts to be the one who won her heart, and the other one then swam off. It was the little lady's turn to perform, and she did with lots of splashing and also lying in the water submissively. The male simply watched..... Then at the end of it all the second male returned and the three of them swam away together. ??!
Now I'm wondering if I'll be witness to yet another round of "the mating game" one of these days when she finally chooses a mate or he chooses her.....
I don't want to say my Jeep is getting old, but the dashboard needs an update!
