Found this little fella at the back of a cupboard today, so I bought some batteries and a cheap roll of film to see if it is in working order. I haven't used it since 2001 when I had no clue about photography (some would say that's still the case). Will be interesting to see if I can apply what I've learned using it's digital cousins and whether I can produce better pictures with it than I did back then.

I'm sure you have. Of course the trick is finding somewhere decent to develop the film theses days.

I'm just going to use a supermarket to see if the lens and camera are in working order. There's some fungus on the lens so it might be a bit hit and miss.

I'm lucky enough to have a couple of old school camera shops near me that develop film still if it works out. I'm also toying with the idea of getting a kit to do it myself.

Cheers. I seem to recall that it took some nice shots when I used it years ago.

Had a quick play with my Macro lens this weekend. Spent most of the time trying to work out why one of my SB900's wasn't firing off camera. As I suspected it was one of the settings was wrong. Good thing was having two, I was able to copy the settings from one to the other.

Anyway. Here is the picture.

Comments always appreciated.

I thought this would be an interesting image to feed into a program I've been working on:

That's interesting. What is the application?

It's a Java program I've been working on. It moves bright pixels to the right and dark ones to the left, so if a photograph is taken in low, single-source light, it might appear 3D during the transitions.

I can post the alpha version if you're interested.

Only if its idiot proof! Sounds cool though.

It's so idiot proof, one could even design it!

  1. Assuming it actually runs, the program will prompt you to select an image after opening it.
  2. You can click on the top or bottom halves of the image to view different transitions.
  3. Clicking while the image is transitioning will pause the transition; click again to play
  4. Pressing 's' while the transition is paused will save a copy of the image with a number at the end of its name in the same location as the original.
