I think probably it was a goose or two or three.... Maybe the Hooded Mergansers. I haven't seen any out there, so they must've been there at a time when I was otherwise occupied. Come to think of it, we also do have beavers around here, and raccoons, but I think both of them would be far too heavy to walk on that thin ice. Definitely wasn't humans!

Nope, not a snowman out there, either. I had stepped out on the deck to savor the fifty-degree air, which feels positively balmy after what we've been experiencing, and when I looked down and saw that nearly perfect circle, I knew I had to grab the camera.

What would a POTD thread be without a cat pic (and yes, I understand that one reasonable answer is "better")? However, it's been cold outside and I've been concentrating on using/learning lighting recently so--here you go ;)

As an aside, I've been using the Sigma 40mm Art almost exclusively recently and it's become one of my favorite lenses.

The less photographed cat in my house:

Could be a beaver? But I’m no expert!

I am no expert, either, so don't know for sure what kind of footprints beavers make, nor do I know how much they weigh..... The tracks WERE close in to the shoreline, though, as opposed to being out in the middle of the lake, and there is some vegetation growing along the shoreline, so it is possible that this was a beaver. They have done some major destruction to a lot of the trees around the lake, and of course those trees are on the shoreline..... Well, I guess those tracks are going to be a mystery!

You’ll have to get one of those night vision video cameras that activates when it detects movement. Then you can find out!
