Trying to keep the creature alive by making available sugar laden string and a bit of pineapple. I later transferred her/him to the salad we had been growing on the window sill and S/he seems a lot happier
This is my ‘From my window’ snap taken today. There is a disused bird’s nest in that thicket which I hope might be occupied in Spring.

A rare visit to my part of the UK, a Black-winged Stilt (we actually had 8 visit for 3 days).

Another goose.....more icy lake. Actually, this guy was out there all by himself, and was really trapped because while there was some water/melting ice on the surface, just underneath was still solid ice, so that swimming freely was impossible. Somehow he'd managed to get himself in a position where he couldn't get any traction to get up on the ice and/or enough room to maneuver so that he could even take flight. I heard plaintive honking, looked out the window and saw him there. No other geese around. He finally figured out that if he took bites at the ice he could create more space, and eventually was able to turn himself around so that he was again headed in the direction of where there was open, swimmable water, and by forging a path slowly made his way back that way, to my relief. I cheered when he finally broke free and could swim properly again.
