I'm pretty proud of myself that I largely made it through winter without buying flowers every week; normally I just shoot macro all winter, but I actually branched out quite a bit the past few months. However, I could not pass up the ranunculus yesterday at the grocery store.

Glowbull Warming has hit us as well. We are a mere -29°C this sunny morning.
Spring has pushed itself into our lives early this year. The daffodils and other assorted flowers are up, the trees are all budded and blooming, and the temps are abnormally high. Don't know what it means, but the nature photo opportunities I look forward to every year are already starting to appear.

I know! Record highs in the south, and record lows and blizzards in the North. Not one of the proponents you are referring to at all, but yesterday there was a 100° difference between some places in the north and south here in the US. Strange weather, no matter what the cause of it, and in my 21 years here in NC, this is definitely the earliest spring I have seen. 85° F yesterday here in February just ain't normal.

Normal and weather are opposites. The normal high and low is based on averages, and 85 one year can be offset by -3 another year. People are talking early spring, but if memory serves, anytime we have this early warm up, we get hit with a late cold snap. I had a magnolia freeze back 2 feet one year because of a winter like this one. The tree survived, just looked like crap for a few years. The catch here is that magnolias aren’t native to my area. All the native tree species just shrugged off the cold snap and pressed on. It’s as though they are well adapted to the random odd weather years. :)

Crazy weather in PA as well. It was in the 70s yesterday and today it is 30.

Highway 17 to Santa Cruz in Silicon Valley is currently shut down... due to a foot of snowfall.
