Photo of the day : January 2014

I really should start paying more attention to the shots posted here...all I saw was the corner of a ceiling / corner of a box. What have I been missing all this time? :D

You just have to train your mind. There is all the talk of phallic symbols used in mass media, but the truth is there are several women's crotches hiding in plain sight in every room. :p

On an unrelated note. Today's photo is brought to you curtesy of a crazy person who was ready and willing to leave Toronto in the middle of a cold October night to greet sunrise in Algonquin park (about 3 hours away) and take a ride through the frosted wilderness with the first rays of sun providing wonderful light.

That's when I realized that sometimes the big expanses of beauty around me can be taken to a whole new level when you place a human strategically in the frame :)

As a motorcyclist I applaud the combination of bravado and lunacy necessary to be one of the first out on a frosty road. Great picture BTW!

Barred Owl

Image

Been out chasing owls lately with no success so I'm hoping for better luck today. This shot is from last year.

I remembered your post this morning when I saw this guy way off in the trees. He was so far away, and I was on my way to work or I would have tried to get closer. It could have been a great shot with the ice in the trees:

You may not be excited about the shot jjk454ss but you must be happy with the sighting. I've been chasing sighting reports for weeks without success.

Thanks for sharing and keep looking.
