I was driving past a windfarm, yesterday, as a storm was brewing. I got a few seconds of sunlight before the rain came. Strange how the odd light makes the huge pillars look like little plastic kits...

Nice capture Doylem. I like the wash of light coming down across the front of the frame onto the first turbine - get that one to a stock service. Wind / renewable energy folks would love that shot.

Incredible! What setup did you use to take this?

My pic of the day is (who could have guessed?) a bug, specifically a praying mantis nymph. It's my new wallpaper. :D

Logging in here earlier today I recall seeing a post following Pili's fish photo complimenting him/her on their photo. That post is now gone. Based on moderator comments earlier in this thread, I'm assuming that this post was deleted by a moderator because, oh, I don't know, it was too short or some silly thing. While it's their forum to moderate as they see fit, I find this sort of arbitrary censorship rather irritating. As a photographer, I appreciate knowing when someone likes my photo, regardless of how short or concise their compliment may be. How many responses to my photos have been deleted because they didn't meet some random definition of appropriateness. (Probably not many, but hey, it's the point that counts.) And my point is, this sort of moderation really turns me off from wanting to hang around here and bother posting pics...

Since it's still July here in Memphis, TN, I'm going to post this to July AND to August.

The sunflowers are blooming at a local farm. This is an experiment that I had read about and figured I would try it out today. I was using my wife's backup D80 and her 50/1.8. I actually held the lens backwards up to the camera setting the aperture and focus manually. Sure does make for some nice macro work, it just is hard to focus with the wind moving things and making sure no light comes into the sensor.

Comments are welcome.

Honostly, it was more of a lucky shot :D. Nothing super special about the equipment, just d50 + 18-200 VR and a cooperative fish. The fish was high enough in the tank and is bright enough so that I could knock up the shutter speed some and expose him just right leaving the background almost black (also helps to have a black background in the tank). Just used a little photoshop to clean up some of the floating debris, crop, and correct for white balance.

I can confirm this unnecessary deleting of posts is happening a lot lately. It has taken away my appetite to contribute here also...

This is my first try at HDR using Photomatix Pro. It is a combination of three pictures and was taken at Dunes State Park near Lake Michigan. Any suggestion to get better results?
