Could you take the plunge and post one with whatever shot details you have? Might help doing a bit of photo-autopsy:)

Yeah will do soon :) when I can bare the shame... :)

That was 15 20 second exposures stacked using Deep Sky Stacker. It's actually a bit of a process, DSS is a Windows program, and I'm on a Mac. I have Windows 10 installed in Bootcamp, so I edit it there and then copy it over to MacOS for processing using Pixelmator. It's not perfect; for some reason the image stack appears fine in Windows, but when I copy it over to the mac side, it's super dark. I then have to up the exposure a bunch in Pixelmator, which adds a bunch of noise. I'll have to figure out a better process.

Thank you for the compliment. It's been a few months since I've bothered working on photos like this. I should try to get some more done. :)

Belated thank you! ;)

Maybe consider VMWare Fusion? Run your windows 10 in a vm without the need to reboot each time? Reason I say Fusion rather than a free version like Virtual Box is so you can use unity which would make DSS act like a native app from a usage perspective. Begind tge curtain is more complex obviously but not for this forum. That would save you rebooting between OSes. Hell even Virtual Box without the unity bit would save time.

Sorry if you have considered this and discounted it. I know running a windows VM will slow down stacking processing time...

Thanks.
I'm really no expert, but surely that yellow flowers not called Pink Adirondack?

I'm no botanist/gardener or whatever either AFB - the title refers to the type of chair with a sub-title of yellow begonia.:) A close-up of the same flower (flickr) lets you see the covering of dew-drops from this morning.

Just had yesterday's photo added to explore on Flickr, which is the first for me.
Yay!
Congratulations - I've been Explored twice, but one of them not for the right reasons I reckon (was picked up because of the amount of comments)

Cheers :)

Wherever I hang my hat...
One thing that has stood out in my mind looking at your photos, which I very much like by the way, is the abundance of nice weather you happen upon! To be honest, not having visited the UK yet, I find this encouraging but at the same time wonder if perhaps you have been somehow blessed with sunny days

I call my blog 'Broken Cloud' because that's what I like to hear in the weather forecast. Not big, bland, blue, skies, and not featureless cloud... but a changeable prospect. That may include periods of sunshine, maybe rain... but I always feel motivated to take pix. And if the light isn't right for one kind of picture taking, then it may be OK for another (such as outdoor portraits on a dull day, etc)...

I thought about that, but the reason I installed windows using Bootcamp was so I could play Final Fantasy XIV. ;) At the time FFXIV wasn't working too well for Mac. Maybe it does now, I'm not sure; I quit FFXIV a while ago due to school. Anyway, I don't think I can use the same Windows install if I did try using VMWare Fusion.

Yeah you can. Fusion can boot off of an existing Bootcamp partition. You may need to turn off EFI support in the VM settings... maybe take a trial and see...

How does that even work?
Absolutely no idea. I thought it was to acknowledge the better photos such as yours but I uploaded one of all my Russian lenses and it got Explored. I reckon it was because of all the discussion that followed, and that the number of comments alone were enough for their computer program to pick up on it.

Cheers :)

Went to Loch Lomond Shores today to take a picture of these Pilings. I keep seeing images of decaying pilings and I like them. Failed miserably to recreate the thing I like. The weather meant the distant shore was blurry as hell...

Will have to go back and try again some time soon. In the meantime, one of my lame attempts for your entertainment.
