Wherever I hang my hat...
One of my wife's favourite birds. A pied wagtail I believe.

Yes... or as an old girl-friend of mine used to think, a baby magpie!

I hear talk about the 'cashless society'; maybe it's already here...

Went for a bush-walk last week and happened to have this thirsty character rush across the path immediately in front of us heading to the lake we were walking around. It drank and drank and drank for about five minutes, allowing me to get nice and close, then went and climbed up a nearby tree back to safety.

Just an FYI about file size and resolution limitations for posting images. I was running into a problem recently in posting images, they weren't posted inline but were instead posted as attachments, which I thought was caused by file size limitations. After contacting macrumors support I got back the answer that in addition to a file size limitation, a bit over 1 MB for jpeg images, there is also a resolution limitation, pixels per inch, with a max resolution of around 4800 x 3200 overall the upper limit. Hope this helps anyone posting high res images.

Mine for today is another flower. It probably has a name. I think of it as a purple flower! (I'm rubbish with flower names! @Ish used to tell us the correct ones!)

I have a confessions to make. Over the last few months I have been barely taking any photos, and as for trying hard to actually make something photographically worthwhile - forgeddaboutit. Which is ironic, because I moved to a new and wonderful location in California, but what do I have to show for it?

Here is a lazy attempt taken at sunset in Yosemite over the long weekend at the beginning of July:

I think a section of my brain has fallen asleep, the one which used to calculate and frame potential shots everywhere. Mind you, I was not super duper before, but I think in my rebellion against the cellphone shooting masses I went a bit too far and nearly abandoned a hobby that used to bring me so much joy.

(I have nothing against cellphones, except the sheer number of them.)

Will you guys take me back?
