Squirrel watching me !!
I love squirrels, at the moment we have a family of them in the garden, the two young ones run around, jump on each other and generally look incredibly cute.

Any comments appreciated.
Very jealous as we love squirrels to.
You might want to look at your white balance as all that green is shifting it slightly to my mind.

Who doesn't love squirrels? They are just some of the cutest, cheekiest and crazy critters to be seen in the garden. My neighbour has a rat problem and I wont let him put poison down in case the squirrels get to it, he has to use traps - that didn't please him but the squirrels take priority.
It was taken with auto WB but in jpeg not raw, i tried to salvage it a bit in PS changing the tone/contrast with a little extra saturation. I know what you mean about the green it doesn't quite look like it should and the squirrel itself has green tint too! I could try to argue, blagg and bluff that it is a new species only found in sunny, green Wolverhampton but i'm not sure you would believe me, would you?

Well I'm not that far from Wolverhampton (Stourbridge), so I'm pretty sure I'd have heard about green squirrels!
Why don't you shoot in RAW if you don't mind me asking?

I use a Canon 7dii and the software doesn't allow raw files to be processed straight into ps they have to be converted somehow, i guess canon want us to use their own software.(i could be completely wrong about that and maybe i have missed a trick somewhere - i'm sure someone on here will know?) So, i just shoot in jpeg, it gives me more space and lets be honest, it isn't as though my photos are going to be improved much in pp! unless SpringWatch hear about my green squirrels.

Great capture and it really suits the mono treatment - really brings out the various materials
I really loved this series. I need to get better with my long exposure shots. Thanks.

Here's an example of a very calm Gulf of Mexico with a multi-minute exposure (16-stop ND). I've done both colour and mono versions but prefer the colour. Comments always appreciated.

What version of Lightroom do you use? You can always use the Adobe dng converter if your LR version is too old to read the files natively.

I use ps CS5 i don't have LR. I'm told LR is easier to use but that you cant do as much with it - not that that makes any difference to me, i cant do a lot with CS5 either!
I did try converting once, it took a while so i gave up and just shot jpeg from there on in.

Never used it, i have it as part of CS but i have never had time to learn how to use it. As you know my son did his gcse photography, he know more about ps than i do!
Actually, thinking about it, he is 16 so i suppose you'd expect him to know more than his dad about computers - or anything else for that matter!!!;)

BTW. I would like to thank all of those that helped my son with his submission, your help was very much appreciated, no results yet but i'll let you know how he got on. He has had two of his photos put in an exhibition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery though - he's rightly quite proud of that.

Quite right to. He should be proud. Pass on our congratulations.
My Daughter did her GCSE's this spring also. I know she got an A in art. Probably not find out about the rest.

You'll find out if she gets any more A's thats for sure, and she'll want a '£reward£' for doing so well!
GCSE's are not easy and a lot of kids don't see any value in learning, ever heard your daughter say "that's what google's for" o_O lol
Seriously though, good luck to your daughter i hope she does well, it is a stressful time for them so keep positive.

I've not seen her for 2 and a half years so she certainly won't be asking me for anything.
I hope she does well to.

Love this one Florian...well done. I had the Bridge of Sighs on my list but walked right by that spot completely forgetting about it. I'm think my head was down as I plowed through the crowd.

Beautiful. Love the processing to.

Thank you, Peter. I can see that this can be missed with all of the hustle and bustle in this area. AFB, thank you for the kind comment.

This is incredible! I have to guess - around 1/10 speed?

Not a bad guess, though off by an order of magnitude and a factor of 3 ;)

For this series I had a 24-70 mounted on a tripod. Manually set exposure to f/8, 3.2 sec, ISO 100. Set focus manually to get an object close to infinity in focus as well as objects in the foreground. Then just started snapping with a remote release once the show started. The long exposure gave me a little latitude with timing and also let me capture them going up and then exploding. In post, the smoke ended up being the biggest challenge for all of them.

Here's another:
