Thank you for the kind words!
You are right. It was 200-600 with a TC. This time on R4.
P.S. Besides that it is quite heavy - How is the lens performing for you? Do you have any AF issues with the lens? Some people seem to complain about R4 & 200600 combo and focusing.
I love the 200-600 and am definitely keeping it even though right now I'm not using it as much since I've got the other lens now. I haven't experienced some of the AF issues that I've been hearing about with the A7R IV and the 200-600mm. Maybe I'm lucky! Or, more likely, when I have a poorly focused image I tend to blame it on user error: wrong f/stop used, too slow a shutter speed, too much camera movement, etc., etc......
Now that I've finally gotten the Wimberly Gimbal for the tripod, I should get more "keepers" with the Bazooka, as I won't be trying to support it on the deck railing, clutching at it with one hand while trying to focus and shoot with the other. Also, thanks to kind folks here who offered some suggestions when I mentioned some issues with the TC, I've made some settings adjustments which have made a difference, too, and I expect that will also benefit me when I do use the Bazooka, either with or without the TC. It had been years since I'd shot with a long lens and at that time the longest one I had was a Nikon 300 f/2.8. I'd kind of forgotten some basic techniques and principles of shooting with long lenses.
Right now we don't have a lot of geese or other wildlife swimming around the lake on a regular basis, just occasionally, so haven't used the new setup out on the deck except a couple of times. I do want to try the 1.4x TC on the Bazooka, as that should give me even greater reach, which at times I have found that I need, even on this small body of water.
How do you like the A7R IV? I absolutely love mine, it is one fantastic camera and I will say, hands-down, the best I have ever owned and used. Now if only I were skilled enough to really use it at maximum advantage, since it is capable of so much, much more, than I've even attempted.
