I'm amazed at how often I discover a new subject when returning to photograph an old favourite. Best viewed full size.

... young ferns coming through the cracks among rocks of a garden wall ... early-morning walk in the neighbourhood today.
Last week it rained like crazy for about 10 minutes
Everybody wants a bite or two..... Not sure what that white thing once was, but I suspect it must've been alive at one time. I was out on the deck and noticed it moving around a lot, then realized that the fish just beneath the surface were tugging at it, nibbling at it, trying to take possession of it..... Surprisingly there were few squabbles and various ones allowed others to take a turn. I was also surprised that there was only the one big catfish there -- we have a bunch of them in the lake.
Is anybody feeling brilliant going to take a guess? I think it is a piece of a creature that is part fish and part chicken.

Our local group of hummingbirds were especially active yesterday
it does really look like a cooked chicken breast.
The thing did look a lot like chicken, actually.... But how that would wind up in the lake is anyone's guess! It is possible that something got into the trash somehow, but we do not have curbside trash pickup here, the community has dumpsters and they are within enclosures and they have doors which most people do slide closed after depositing their bag of whatever. A real puzzle, here!

can people grill there? maybe someone dropped a piece after cooking it and threw it in the lake rather than the trash.
This $60 macro adapter has been one of the best bargains I've found in all my years of buying camera gear.
Ah, that's a thought!! We are not permitted to grill on our patios and decks but people can take their grill out to the common grounds area safely away from buildings and not close to the trees, and grill there. It is entirely possible that what you mention someone did actually do, I wouldn't doubt it! Thanks -- you may have well solved the mystery!
