I'm in no position to criticise anyone's photos, but I thought here that if you brought up the shadows and maybe a little more saturation the pic would come alive - hope you don't mind JamesMike.
This was done very quickly in Preview on a Mac running Mavericks.
There are many others around here that would do it much better than me.

The haze adds to the picture's feel. Wonder how it would look dehazed with the new Dehaze slider in Lr CC?? Probably not as good :)

The forecast yesterday called for rain so I went out with rain gear in hand specifically to get cygnets (baby swans) in the rain. Instead of rain it was fog and the cygnets stayed at least 500 ft away from me but I was happy to get the Heron.

I had originally wanted to put this into last weeks contest , but got distracted by the shiny lights of the image that I entered . IIRC this station goes back to somewhere around 1900 and is one of the original NYC subway stations. They didn't mess around when it came to small details like this back then .
