"W. Clark July 9 1806". Taken at Pompeys Pillar National Monument, outside of Billings, Montana. This encased inscription on the rock was made by William Clark during the Lewis and Clark Expedition and is the sole remaining inscription of the Expedition of 1803-1806. A site of cultural and historical significance to Native Americans, Pompeys Pillar has over 5,000 etchings, petroglyphs, and pictographs.

Been trying to get a good photo of this spot for years. The combination of back lighting, dark rock and, not being able to set a tripod or hold position for a multiple exposure makes it extremely difficult. Worked from the RAW image, then did a lot of selective editing and came up with something I like.

More photos from our walk through the woods and prairie at Meadowbrook Park Urbana IL. Closeup of the bearded foxglove that is at peak bloom this week in prairie, I was taking shot with closeup on my 14 ProMax and noticed the bumble bee there which came out nice. then getting back I noticed down to the bee’s right there was a ant there. More to the photo that I realized LOL. Tomorrow will show the field of foxglove blooming in the prairie.
