You might have noticed that I haven't taken a half decent photo for ages; in fact I haven't been out properly with a camera for a couple of years probably.
My wife has been having problems with her memory, eyesight, understanding and doing things for the last couple of years, (I know what it's called - I just don't like the name they give it), hence if I do get out it's always a hurried affair.
I'm not in any way looking for sympathy but I just want to say that this forum is a life saver and an inspiration for me; I love to see what the rest of you have been up to with your cameras, and once this virus thing is out of the way I hope to find a way whereby my wife can come out on photo shoots with me and still be safe.

Anyway, here's one I took earlier out in the garden; some primulas waiting to be planted out...

By the way, I considered selling the new Z 50 and brand new Tamron 16-300mm, but it was a once in a lifetime purchase and will always be waiting until I can pick it up again more seriously.

Cheers :)

Hugh

Best wishes and prayers to you, your wife and your family, Hugh. Let's hope we will all be able to be free to roam and visit and experience the beauty that each of sees and shares on this site sooner rather than later. Stay safe everyone.

Well, I maybe have a little bit of a heartwarming story in these crazy times. We homeschool (so we’re ahead of the social distancing curve, lol), and we belong to a small homeschool coop that meets weekly in a natural park setting. For part of that time, the kids sit and sketch a component of nature that interests them. Well, with the shift to staying away from gatherings of most kinds, they’ve had to cancel the in-person meetings, but they plan to continue on with a weekly webinar. During the last one, the group leader put up a photo for the kids to sketch, and I guess my wife had shared some of my work with her. She had chosen one of the bluebird pictures I had taken earlier this year! I got some good compliments on the photo (well, my wife took them, since she has the Instagram account), but the real reward was when she showed me the drawings the kids (and moms) drew of my photo!

To me, this craft/hobby is needed now more than ever. We all have good archives, so don’t be afraid to dig and share!

Thank you all for your good wishes :)

Sorry about the way it all came out, but when you hit a temporary low it helps to let something out.
Maybe watching the news doesn't help ;)

We are OK; we will be OK for some time as my wife has a long way to go yet. Yes she needs help with a lot of activities, a tiny bit more each month that passes, but we are still having a laugh and trying hard to keep our old brains stimulated.

I don't wish to hijack the thread so let's just carry on sharing our pics, and as Darmok says above if you can't get out there's always the archives to cheer folks up with :)

Cheers :)

Always good to let it out now and again Hugh. Yes, the news is pretty depressing - I’ve largely given up watching it on TV. Photos are a great way of capturing a moment that can be treasured going forward.

All the best to you both.

This forum, and this thread in particular has helped me through no end of dark times.
I also haven’t been out much in the last year. I do hope things with your wife improve. Getting out together would be nice. But given the current climate your options might be limited.
Hope you are able to get out soon and stay safe.

Back on topic. One from my garden. Sadly just an iPhone pic. But my study will be done this week, so I can finally unpack my camera.

As I was sitting in my basement, I heard a rustling in my window well. Looked out the window to see Mr. Toad stuck in there. I'm guessing he hibernated in this spot and had come out with the warm weather. With a freeze forecasted for the next morning, Mr. Toad was a guest that evening of the Darmok household (contained, of course). We released him the next day to be on his merry way of eating bugs and worms and the like.
