Pensacola was where I went to my first Naval Photography school in 1978. Was a lot fun and awe watching the Blue Angels practice for an 18yo upstate NY country boy.
Poison Ivy, which I am very allergic too. Made me very nervous getting close enough to take that photo.
Oh, I should've guessed, but I didn't know they got to be so big! I've never seen one in real life, since I live in Sweden. Maybe I should be thankful for that.
Why does this thing float? Looks to top heavy and should just topple over in a big wind or large wave.
As long as you don’t touch, you’re okay, and it helps that it is dormant but there is still a chance you’d get it if you started messing with it.
Here in the Midwest, I’ve seen it get almost as big in diameter as the length of an ink pen. It’s pretty rare, as enough people know it needs to be eliminated in cultivated areas. Still, every once in a while, someone doesn’t know what it is and off it goes! Google Lens says it's Glovis Countess, a vehicle carrier. My best guess that it has unloaded all its vehicles (IDK)... 😆Why does this thing float? Looks to top heavy and should just topple over in a big wind or large wave.

Actually, it was coming into port, but probably unloaded many at prior ports. Looking at its manifest tracking, New York, Baltimore, Charleston and arriving at Jacksonville. From there proceeded to Brunswick and currently off the coast with the next port in Africa. May have been empty enough in Jacksonville and particularly, Brunswick, since skipped it coming down, to add cars destined for Africa. Stock photos on ship info/tracking sites show it much lower in the water.
This reminds me when I purchased my Mini and watched it leave factory for port, load on ship, and track to Brunswick where offloaded. Baltimore was the worst as it takes a full day when entering the Cheasapeake, unload, then a day back to the Atlantic!

These were way too grainy to deliver good prints, and digitizing them did not help in the least. Looking at the rest of the roll I think I was trying out some soup or another. One that does not agree with Ilford FP-4. Probably a one time use such as Rodinal?
