I like what you did with that shot, the only thing I would try in addition is to crop off the bottom of the picture up to the top of the first fence post. This would bring the horizon line down to the rule of third and bring the focus to the sky more naturally. That's my two cents.
[doublepost=1462630684][/doublepost]A robin set up a nest in the pine tree right outside our front door. I took this through the door sidelight so as to not spook it and it still came out pretty clear. Done with the canon eos m3 and the 70-300L

Thanks for the feedback George, I have played around with it a bit more in lightroom, and tried the rule of thirds a with the horizon higher and lower, and both definitely look better.

A quick business trip to Sydney, and just the lunchtime with bright sun to contend with. With all these cooking shows and their "deconstructed" meals, desserts etc, This is my attempt to put it into a photo with a deconstructed snowglobe. View attachment 631359

Love it! Very "regal" looking. BTW, is it true what they say about what's under or not under kilts? :)

My granddaughter. Getting her to look into the camera is like pulling teeth.

It depends where your tolerance is for itchy scratchy wool against your skin is... Plus, when wearing one in company containing none Gaelic people i.e. folks not used to being around Kilts, then there comes a point in the evening where this question inevitably begs to be answered and the ladies usually decide to adopt a more tactile approach to answering their curiosity... I mean you can bet money on it happening!

Officially, you go commando... personally, I like to have support... when wearing mine.

Being a bloke, I tend to not be skilled in the art of conducting ones self when wearing an open bottomed garment. I have found myself being observed from below when standing on a balcony and also not closing ones knees when sitting - like this guy!

They are really heavy! 8 yards of 13 ounce tartan aint lightweight more so once you attach the Sporran and all the rest of the gubbins. Saying that, since having mine fitted *ahem* a few years ago, I may need more than 8 yards now... mine is a medium weight tartan for balance of warmth and the trademark swing to the pleats. The ones you see in the military bands are 18 oz! I dont know how they stand in them all day long. Their backs must kill them.

Have been experimenting a bit with ultra-wides. Took this in my backyard tonight at a 14mm focal length. 20 sec exposure with some decent wind. Ended up isolating the subject with shutter speed rather than aperture ;)
