Macro May? What's June have in store?

I have no idea!

There was an Instagram challenge this month with some great prizes, and I was trying to win a camera bag. I don't actually think I'll win, but it was a good way for me to get back into the practice of (somewhat) daily shooting. I used to shoot every day when my kids were small and at home, and when I was really learning. But now they are in school or sports all day, I am home alone, and I am pretty comfortable with my skills (although always willing to try something new, like focus stacking). My kids are good for once a year Christmas photos, but are otherwise typical tween/pretween-don't-bother-me-right-now. I like the idea of a near daily challenge. I didn't shoot macros every single day, but took almost 600 macros this month. Of course, a huge percentage of those were duds but the idea of shooting just to shoot I've really missed.

I don't like posting photos of my kids publicly online now that they are growing into identifiable people, so won't post them here, but maybe I will try to post some day to day type of stuff. Or I can always share old photos. :)

Well my first post here with a photo taken Sunday past at a park here in Geneva - the Chateau de Penthes to be precise.

I was only using my iPhone 7 plus and there were better photos in my opinion. However, I wanted to see if anyone picks out the anomaly and can tell what it is.

Looks like a collapsing balloon but probably a paper bag! Hopefully you'll post some more.

At full size on my computer, it looks like a leaf blowing in the wind, assuming the anomaly you mean is whatever is floating in the sky.

Either a picture of a picture with a hole punched in it OR a flying paper bag - guesses.

Bingo! I didn't realise either at the moment until one of my freinds pointed out it was a windy day and yes here were other leaves blowing around.

I can remember when the water level was all the way up to the base of those structures. Sad. Hope that this past winter would have brought some much needed water but think it let loose on California. If you are ever at Hoover Dam, take the tour. It is awesome being in the bowels of the dam and just fills you with awe as to what the workers did and how many sacrificed their lives. Cool stuff, especially when your tour is lead by "Dan, the dam Dam Guide". Cheers

Is it a leaf fluttering by?

Looks to be a fuchsia.

I think you are right... I thought they were Fuschias too.

So, @Apple fanboy, in the fuschia, once you have been to Gardeners World live will you be able to tell the type of flower? :)

come on, thats a good one... admit it...

Okay, so here is a non-macro photo for you all! We went camping last weekend and I took this there. I loved idea of this photo, but it was horribly underexposed when I got home and looked at it. I had to raise the exposure by 1.5 stops (whoops). And being shot at ISO 4000, it had a ton of ugly noise. Still, I really liked it, so I played with some filters in PS to make it look painterly. I don't normally do stuff like that, typically I just chuck it, but I felt compelled to save this one.

DXO optics does a very nice job of noise reduction.

So is it landscapes in June? Looks like a lovely place. Where abouts is it?

Have you thought about a change of career?

Yes frequently.... usually on pay day... :)

Whats the vertical line a third of the way in from the left? is it a stitched picture?

I am no expert as you know but the light seems wrong. The light seems to be shining on the front of the tree on the left, yet the sky looks like the light is coming from behind it.

Nice recovery BTW, lovely summer eve composition.
