I was down by the river yesterday afternoon intending to try out my new blue grad filter when, before I could set up, these teenagers passed by on their way across the causeway to Grain Tower armed with BBQ etc.
The fort is a 19th century gun tower built to protect the mouth of the River Medway, and being empty it's an ideal place for a party.

@Apple fanboy , @fcortese , @Susurs , @Alexander.Of.Oz , @stillcrazyman , @akash.nu , @kenoh and others - I have to be honest ...

I couldn't care less about photography, but when I see the beautiful places you depict in the pictures y'all take, I wanna be standing right there next to you, just experiencing the place.

I guess this thread is my way of vicariously traveling ... with y'all as my medium. Thank you :)

Thank you very much, I am chuffed that I appear on that list. You are always welcome to stand next to me when I am making a mess of the images - you can hold the umbrella!

Just watch for the bug biting... I spent years going to lovely exotic places prior to having a family. All over the place just enjoying being there, enjoying standing there soaking it up. Then I decided I liked cameras and then wished I could go back to all the beautiful places again that I went to when I didnt care about photos. lol...

Went to the garden today. I'd set up my macro flash and was hoping to capture a bee or two, but they didn't want to play. Settled for these purple flowers that grow of their own accord.

Not a chance of a burger, but I could have had a crab or two from the Chinese gentlemen collecting them further along the beach ;)

No way, far too muddy and mucky for me to try ;)

Cheers :)

What kind of a flash setup do you have for macro?

Oh. I've never seen anything like that. So the idea is sort of like a ring light, but just doesn't actually make a ring? I used my SB900 off camera last week by way of experiment (I think one or two images made it to POTD), but wasn't overly impressed with my results. I'm good with actual studio lights and softboxes, but the whole OCF thing (well, flash in general), tends to elude me.

Same. You can add as many flash units as you like, so in theory you could make a ring if your pockets were deep enough!

I’m humbled by your kind comments and seeing my name in the same list with all the other brilliant photographers and if I’m honest, I’m nowhere close to their skill set but hopefully I’m improving and given it has been my passion to push phone photography, I’m really excited that you like my pictures.

I would be very much interested in hearing your thoughts on the G9 you have. How long have you had it? Did you have a Panasonic camera previously? I currently have the G3 and am now starting to toy with the idea of getting another camera. Anyway, any thoughts you are willing to share would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I have only had the G9 about a month, but so far I am enjoying it a lot. Previously I shot with Canon aps-c then a full frame 5D, but found I was leaving it at home more often than not. About 6 years ago I sold all my Canon gear and bought a tiny Panasonic GX1, and added a G6 a bit later, and it has grown from there. The G9 is my 5th Panasonic camera, and I also have a GX85 that I use as a second body, and it also goes everywhere in the bottom of my daily carry backpack. I also had a G85 in between the G6 and G9, which is an excellent camera that I enjoyed much more than the G6 which I wasn’t a fan of.

Did I mention that the IS on the G9 is awesome? 1/3 sec handheld on a moving boat on Sydney Harbour.

I think that everyone on this thread takes amazing photographs. I just couldn't remember all the names, so I picked a handful that I did remember, due to particular pictures of places/things that I remember loving, like the autumn colors, tree trunks, the five villages in Italy, the mountains and rivers, and the city streets in Europe, etc.

I remember some great ones I saw from you. Keep 'em coming !

That was heartwarming to read :)

I do have a soft spot for people from the UK, however. Haha, must be the accents and slang and that you guys, in my experience, are generally a lot of fun !

That is pretty impressive, and now you got me second guessing myself again! I went from a mirrorless Sony a5000 to a Nikon D5300. I didn't like the lack of a viewfinder on the Alpha, so I went with a standard DSLR body and lens to try something different. Looking back, there are aspects of the Alpha that I really miss, and I was quite impressed with many of the shots it took. I've been thinking about going back to an Alpha, but one of the models that has a viewfinder. As many outdoor shots as I take, the lack of a viewfinder is a dealbreaker.

I loved a couple of things about these tiny little pom-pom shaped flowers. That they were drenched in water was what initially caught my eye, straight after a heavy downpour and that they had the Autumn tones and colours built into them as their own little Autumnal landscape I thought was cool too. In hindsight, I don't think the wet aspect really worked for them, as it's made them lose their dimension and definition to a point.

A veritable rogues gallery of interesting image makers and takers there! I thank you for the nod of the head. I've been observing a few people on here that are evolving their images, refining their points of view and technique, with a constant chipping away at it, which is resulting in them creating more interesting images as a result. I love to see that happen here, thanks to a little bit of positive feedback and more so, a decision on their own behalves to get better for whatever reason!

Thank you very much. Hearing that you are impressed with the IS on the G9 is especially good to hear (though I'm not sure the Mrs. would appreciate it as much - I may have too many interest apparently).

One day if I keep at this photography thing I might get to be half as good as you all.

And if not, I'll at least enjoy getting out capturing things that catch my eye. That is what photography is to me. :)
