I've got lots of irises in my yard . Usually at the end of May they're all in flower , but not so this year , so I figured I'd head over there and talk to people who know what they're doing . Ends up that they are having a bad year , too , with maybe a quarter to a third of the plants there not in bloom .

Across the lake from me there is a lovely little patch where every year we've had lovely Irises but so far nada, not a one, and I've been wondering about that. Must be a bad year everywhere all the way around for them!

The guy I spoke with said it was just too damp and rainy the last 6 months or so causing rot in a lot of their rhizomes . I'll know if that's my case when I pull up some to make divisions .

We had about 1400 motorcycles ride to our small town Memorial Day Celebration.

Taken by my almost 3 y/o granddaughter. As soon as she sees me with a camera, it's "I want to take a picture. She then goes click, click, click, click from her viewpoint. Forget about trying to take a picture of her because as soon as she sees the camera, the demands start.

I wish I could had gotten closer, but by the time I would had gotten to the other side of the small inlet the Great Blue Heron would had flown away. This picture was taken at Newburgh Lake in Hines Park, Wayne County, Michigan and I have to say people are pigs when it comes to littering and throwing picnic tables into the lake! I wish people would pickup after themselves and stop being so destructive!
