Thanks Robert...much appreciated. I have to say that I've missed seeing your shots around here lately.

Blue Jay coming in for a landing

Image

Cheese, this is a fantastic shot. I can't believe how perfectly the wings are fanned out and the concentration (or appearance of) from it landing. Well done! The best part is that there's no sound so the annoying blue jay screech can't be heard! lol

Seriously though, fantastic shot!

How're you finding it? I recently upgraded from a 60d and love all the tech improvements, but the button layout is pretty dumb.

Having only had a T3i before, I am loving the 6D. I don't have any legacy attachments to button layouts, etc, so that hasn't been an issue.
The improvements in 1) The tech itself 2) Going FF and 3) Going to a non-consumer line camera, are all blowing me away. Low light capabilities, high ISO capabilities on this camera are ridiculous coming from the Rebel.

Having said that, there's a bit of a learning curve. Still getting used to the camera and the world of FF. My first 100 or so shots were TERRIBLE (even by my low standards). I'm just now getting the hang of things, hehe.

Joy

Another shot I took last night from the Sporting KC vs Houston Dynamo Eastern Conference Final. Water mark due to serious concern for use of image.

This is Moondancer, my little boat. Not mine in the sense that I own it, but merely that I identify with it. It’s on its mooring throughout the year, come rain or shine, turning this way and that with the wind... and I think I admire its resilience. Never seen anyone using it... so it can carry on being ‘mine’...

Thanks Keebler.

That was a fun shot to capture then get home and find-out it's in focus.

Mine for today...

Why don't you take her for a spin & see if you get a slap on the wrist? ;)

Great shot also.

Yeah full frame is wonderful. I modified my crop lenses to work on the 6d, the 18-55 is a remarkably good lens all things considered.

This was the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th shot/composite I took with the 6d (click for larger). I'd wanted to take this for so long, but my 60d was too limited. I owe much of my recent improvement in the quality of my photography to upgrading to the 6d.

Very nice. Warms me up on a cold winters day.

My dad used to have a little boat. it had a cabin so technically it was a yacht. It only cost him a few hundred and he hardly ever got to use it because of work etc. Eventually he just abandoned it at its mooring rather than pay the fees. I wonder if this is the same? Nice capture either way.

And for today. Just the lads hanging out waiting for some action.

What a great shot!

I'll add my voice to those here who have claimed you have a style all your own. Technical abilities of the 6D (or any equipment) aside, the creativity here is what makes this shot (more so than the fact that it's a composite, or whatever).

How do you go about setting up for such a shot (inquiring minds and all)? I'm assuming that's you in the photo, which means you are setting up the camera and any additional lighting, and firing off remotely. While I've found that to be manageable for what I'll call "regular shots", for something like this, with compositing, a change of costume (??) and background...How'd you manage it all? What's your process? Did you have anyone helping out?

Hope you don't mind me asking...

Oneonta Gorge

This is the uber famous Oneonta Gorge in the Columbia River Gorge. You climb over a massive log jam and risk falling over, ruining your gear, getting soaked or perhaps even worse, and I've decided that I hate this place!

Not because I don't like it but because of the massive pain in the ass it is to get there. And, if you want to reach the falls, you have to walk in sometimes, chest-high water. Not for me...

Whew! that's a lot of negativity for a shot... But I actually LOVE this particular shot. Fall photographs fantastically well in the Gorge and I'm happy I didn't ruin my camera, although I did fall in the water prior to crossing the log jam...

More details at my website. Thanks for looking!

I recently found myself in Angkor Wat, Cambodia, and snapped this photo of the mighty main temple. If you are silly enough to wear socks in the heat, then the view of this place will blow them off :)
