Welcome to Photo of the Day. The POTD thread was started by iGary in May, 2006 and converted to a monthly thread in November 2007 by Arn. POTD is one of the most popular picture groups on MacRumors, often exceeding 500 posts and 20,000 views per month.

Photo of the Day is intended to be a showcase for your best pictures. There is no limit to your gear, just your imagination. P&S and film cameras are welcome along with DSLRs. There are no themes like the Weekly Contest, and no winners (or losers) either.

Policies

*One Photo per Day - Don't post more than one photo each day.

*Multi-Quote - To comment on several photos, click the "+ (Multi-Quote) button. This puts all your comments in one post. Multi-Quoting is required on all of the MacRumors forums.

*SFW (Safe for Work) only - This is a site - wide rule. If you wouldn't show it in a public place, then it's NSFW (not safe for work). Think before you post.

*Describe your photo - Tell what it is and where you took it. If you know the EXIF data of a photo, include it. The following EXIF fields are recommended: Camera, ISO, Focal Length, Shutter/Aperture and Lens.

Note: Anyone may start the Photo of the Day thread on the first of the month GMT. Please copy a quote of this post to maintain all the formatting.

Spring (first year) brown bear cub.

Went back to Alaska in August and spent 10 days camping in Katmai National Park to photograph their Coastal Brown Bears. This trip was timed to catch the bears fishing for salmon as they load up on fat and protein in preparation for the long winter hibernation.

Is it me or is there a bit of a blue/purple cast to the dark areas? Nice foliage.

Here's The Pig - one of my favourite balloons at the Fiesta evening burn. Comments always appreciated.

Thanks guys. :) Not sure about many posts during the next couple weeks though - I'm struggling with iMac problems at the moment. May be a bad RAM module but that will take time to trouble shoot and it's not Apple RAM so slugging it to the Apple store and standing in line for endless hours may not be an option. :D

OOPS...Move it over to November, mainly because tomorrows will be in the same area. View attachment 800284

One of the many "official" signs during the Jazz Festival referencing the Moody Blues song about the fire destroying the Montreux casino. Overlooks Lac Leman (Lake Geneva).

I believe that was the one-hit-wonder work of Deep Purple.

Hush. Will be Knocking at Your Back Door, with A Child in Time. :)

But seriously. Tomorrow will be turning the camera around shooting into the town with back to the lake where hardly a one hit wonder. You will understand. Just uncertain if want the full profile, or waist up.

Beautiful. The Wildarena people I shot with last week do a bear hunt trip to finland. I'm tempted, but its expensive for a hobbies like me.

Plus you'd need to add insurance and I'd probably want to hire a 500 or 600 prime.

You may be right. I was born after the “classic rock” era, but we had a good radio station that covered many of the hits when I was in college. They even played the extended versions of songs like Freebird and Do You Feel Like I Do. Smoke on the Water was the only one that rang a bell with Deep Purple, but I did know it was based on a true story!

With Bohemian Rhapsody opening in theaters today, thought this would be appropriate. The Freddy Mercury statue is such a prominent landmark in the open square, which despite the city's strong musical history with it's jazz festival and production studios, doesn't have other celebrity statues prominently displayed. Unfortunately was an overcast day with developing snow flurries "forcing" us to retreat to a café for hot chocolate, will have to return on a better day.

Was actually there for a maternity shoot with my daughter and one of my favorites was along the lakeside walk, an anchor in the landscaping that we wrapped the chain around her husband's ankle which was cracking up the other pedestrians as they passed by. Now I am forced to go over there every year to spoil my grandchild.
