De Havilland Dash 8?
Thanks AFB.Beautiful. The Wildarena people I shot with last week do a bear hunt trip to finland. I'm tempted, but its expensive for a hobbies like me.

Plus you'd need to add insurance and I'd probably want to hire a 500 or 600 prime.
Wow that sounds cool. I’m sure that was a hold your breath moment! Thanks AFB.
Wildarena looks good and their bear trip is interesting. Interesting that the approach to bears and the bears themselves can be quite different. With Wildarena in Finland, they work from hides as they say the bears are shy. In Alaska, the approach is the opposite - you want the bears to know you're around so there are no surprises. Once you settle in at a spot to photograph, the bears will be aware of your presence but they're definitely not concerned or intimidated at all.
One morning we set-up and got low on our knees about 2 metres from the edge of a river to photograph a female bear and her two cubs in the river. Mom left the river and headed away from us but then turned around and walked back towards us. She passed between us and the river's edge with her cubs following. They weren't more than a metre from us as they walked by. A heart stopping but very cool moment I'll always remember.
Spring (first year) brown bear cub.

Went back to Alaska in August and spent 10 days camping in Katmai National Park to photograph their Coastal Brown Bears. This trip was timed to catch the bears fishing for salmon as they load up on fat and protein in preparation for the long winter hibernation.
Depends if they’ve had their porridge!Awesome, I can't wait to hit up Alaska. Tell me, how scary is it to be close to the bears?
Definitely a Dash of some sorts but I’m certainly no planespotterDe Havilland Dash 8?

The trick was to have an excellent guide who had a lot of experience with brown bears and camping in the wilds of Alaska, and we did. Our guide was very calm and relaxed and we took our lead from him. The other benefit was that he looked after everything...provided all the camp equipment, set-up, meals, fresh water, etc.
Here we are getting ready to load our gear into the float plane for the flight from Kodiak Alaska into Katmai National Park.

OOPS...Move it over to November, mainly because tomorrows will be in the same area.View attachment 800284
Montreux, CH
One of the many "official" signs during the Jazz Festival referencing the Moody Blues song about the fire destroying the Montreux casino. Overlooks Lac Leman (Lake Geneva).

Last plane one. Not a De Havilland this time. Comments always appreciated.

Ok Scottsman I'll bite ... nice vantage point, great shots: let me guess Manchester, Gatwick, Glasgow, East Midlands?
